Voice ID Security

Does this mean my mother cannot call up and pretend to be me anymore…

I’m happy with Voice ID. If a record of my voice leaks then I’ll feel sorry for the poor person who decides to listen to it!

I think its easy to view each data component in isolation and slip into a situation where a company ends up with far too much linked-up data on you. In my opinion there are better ways to confirm security than having to hold millions
of people’s voices on record - big brother is here

Yeah, right, because your bank doesn’t already know your every move.

And the irony of posting your mobile number on that comment, for all to see.

Oops haha! Just because they already have lots of info doesnt mean I give them more

Yeah, I just reckon anyone who uses Google, or Amazon, or Facebook is fiddling whilst Rome burns if they’re worried about their bank.

With the GDPR introduced you’ll have noticed more privacy options and ability to erase your data. I am also careful to opt out of data harvesting with the companies you mention. Lets not lay down and roll over

Data protection and moreover data ethics is going to be/is already a big topic in FS and I believe a source of competitive advantage for Monzo if done well. The consensus is that Monzo is well trusted. Giving data acquisition/use/security etc. serious thought enhances that trust and helps them continue to grow. Its more than just adhering to the letter of the law, its a culture to do the right thing with people’s data. It’s yours. You own it

My grandmother, who’s 92 years old, set up Voice ID on her Atom iPad app when we were looking around for a savings account for her. On this day she logged in with Voice ID a number of times and it worked perfectly.

We then tried to get back in to her account a week later and no matter how many times we tried, the system would not recognise her voice. Has anybody else had any similar experiences?

She became frustrated by Atom and this has tarnished the brand in her eyes. Her experience made her personally not have trust in them any more as she doesn’t believe it is secure as it won’t recognise her own voice.

I haven’t used Voice ID myself but personally I wouldn’t want to be walking down the street having to shout into my phone to open my banking app :eyes: :iphone:. I wouldn’t mind it for identification when having to call COps, providing I had trust in the system, which unfortunately currently I do not.

In the case of traditional banks it’s not to access their apps, it’s to access telephone banking/support.

Atom’s face i.d. is unsophisicated. It often fails to recognise me yet we easily fooled it.with a video of me blinking so I don’t imagine the voice i.d. is any more advanced or reliable. They can’t even be bothered to use the native authentication that Apple have provided.
