My checks failed with monzo details but passed with lloyds details and got the handset, virign mobile by the way
Just signed up to Vodafone sim only using Starling with no issues.
Starling reports to all credit reference agencies, Monzo don’t.
Surprises me that the company that has all my money only reports to one.
But it’s Vodafone (in this case) who want you to buy their product so why are they putting barriers up? It’s not a problem for any other phone network
There have been reports of it not working on other phone networks as well.
Starling do 2/3 CRAs (Equifax and TransUnion), but don’t do Experian.
Experian are usually used by larger loans / mortgages so you have a chance of it impacting the lenders scoring by having no recorded bank account.
Monzo reporting to all three is long overdue.
I have no problem with credit, since switching over to monzo full time a few years ago I have had no problems
You switched to Monzo a few years ago? I didn’t think their current account was available a few years ago?!
July ‘17 for the first current account
Maybe just a terminology thing then. I’d have said a couple of years ago.
I wonder if it would be possible to get anyone who works at Monzo to respond to this thread to see if this is on their to do list and if there would be an ETA?
This was the last update 9 days ago
There’s never been an update or response to “can you please put some information about this on your blog posts that discuss building credit score”
I got the same response from Vodafone opening a new broadband contract. I got the issue resolved in the end, and so far they’re the only company I’ve had this issue with. I wonder if Monzo has plans to put something into place regarding credit reference agencies though, as I know they don’t shop up on Experian which I imagine cold lead to problems moving forward?
To be honest, Monzo should be reporting to all 3 CRA’s and Vodafone should be checking with all 3 CRA’s or at least accept a bank statement as proof.
I think it’s standard practice for the automated systems to use one as their main checker, and then report to all 3 of them. I think it’s Equifax who Vodafone run their searches through.
Vodafone use Experian for the search, and reports to all three.
Hard search with Experian as Mobile Phone.
Experian - Multi communication accounts
Clearscore (Equifax) - Telecoms (Broadband)
Credit Karma (TransUnion) - Other > Telecoms
I’ve asked Monzo directly if they know whether or not this is in the short term pipeline and am waiting to hear back - I’ll post here their response. This is really the main reason I haven’t gone full Monzo yet.
