When I’m paying for something with my virtual card, it’s difficult to remember what pit these maps back to in Monzo. It would be nice if the name of the virtual card or email would appear to make it easily recognisable.
This is not something Monzo have control over, I believe. They need to upload full card designs to Apple’s servers and there will be a limit. Text/emojis on those cards will add to the number of designs they need to upload.
You’re best bet is to request Apple allow people to add emojis/text inside Apple Wallet itself, making it a feature available to all Apple Pay users, regardless of bank.
Google let users of Google Wallet add a nickname which is displayed under the card which is super useful, so can’t see why Apple can’t add something like that too.
(If something does exist for Apple users, I apologise. I’m not an Apple user).
I just realised what Carlo is referring to… This is new in the Monzo app and I didn’t see any fanfare around it.
Hopefully this helps with what OP is asking for, but I think this is likely the limit of what Monzo could do, due to Apple’s limitations.
I didn’t know about this either!! I think it’s a great idea, it’s a pity the options are so limited though. Not sure why they wouldn’t have all the same ones as categories have. None of them really match how I use the cards (which is mostly more about where and how I spend with them rather than what I’m buying… I don’t have a card for food and transport for example, but I do have one for recurring payments and one for crowdfunding).
