All virtual cards show up as Monzo Mastercard, which makes it hard to remember what each virtual card was for. In Monzo app you can name the card (e.g. groceries) - would be great if these pulled through to apple wallet.
I believe this is a limitation(?)/feature(?) of the Apple Wallet architecture, where only the top-level account details can be shown. ‘Sub-accounts’ provided by a bank or financial company can’t be displayed in Apple Wallet with a name.
You can add some icons/emoji now which may help Virtual card name or emoji to appear on apple pay card

Not something Monzo can fix. They have added the icons/emoji that @JayTay mentions (you can edit existing cards to the new designs).
If you want to add “nicknames” to cards in Apple Wallet, campaign to Apple for it. Google Wallet has this feature and it makes things so much easier.
