Is it not the adverts that are on the tube etc…

I notice that Starling recently changed the design of their cards including the removal of card numbers from the front. Having seen one in person, it looks really smart. I wondered if there was any plans to do something similar (to make the card represent the modern forward thinking bank that Monzo is) at Monzo?
I quite like the etched details. Not bothered about the placement (back or front). I do think the Starling cards look like hotel key cards though. But I think that’s because they’re vertical.
IMO the new Starling card design is rank. Just because something is done differently doesn’t automatically make it modern or forward-thinking tbh.
I used my teal vertical Starling debit card in a restaurant the other evening with a group of friends and it caused quite a stir.
There were three sorry–looking Monzo cards in the heap too, unmentioned
Wait until I drop my N26 card.
You’re right, but the Starling debit card is, objectively, both modern and forward–thinking.
I’ve got a Starling card. The black font on the back looks really cheap and awful. For me it’s the worst part of Starling.
If by “done differently” you mean “never been done before”, then it is by definition both modern and forward-thinking. Of course, that doesn’t make it nice to look at.
I quite like the vertical design, but wish the teal wasn’t quite so sparkly looking.
Not sure how you can have a forward-thinking debit card? It is modern though but then so is every other debit card on the market, objectively speaking
Similar with the new Curve card. It looks good, and I expect its a recent change to the Mastercard standards that allow it to happen.
Discussed in threads below;
Not sure about you guys but I actually really dislike vertical cards and Starlings is the worst one I’ve had. I like the features Starling has though.
The card is sparkly and looks pretty cheap, the details on the back. Are written in standard orientation so the card feels off. I much prefer normal card layout, why bother doing it another way? It’s worked for so many years for a reason.
Hey @Apscott9 ,
Hope you don’t mind but I’ve merged your thread with an existing one on the same topic.
Feel free to continue the discussion
One of the interesting things about Starling is that in Apple Wallet, the card is landscape (as all the cards are) while the physical card is portrait. I’m assuming any others are the same as they have a forced landscape orientation on payment cards…
