Upgrade (Migration) Updates

Apart from the investors and people on the current account preview, is there any order to the way that everyone else will be invited to the main current account, or is it completely random?

Really looking forward to moving over and loving the PP experience so far!

To work at Monzo and help us reach a billion customers  Careers at Monzo

So on brand

Android: The app in the Play Store now supports upgrade: Investors, Preview customers and a few others are getting invites this week (with a few exceptions: if they have negative balances or very low balances on their prepaid card, the upgrade won’t work smoothly — update going next week (hopefully) to fix that). Then from there, everyone else, with those who missed out on crowdfunding before being first— still aiming for that to be everyone by end of November. No change there.

iOS: Same but further behind — app is in testing in Testflight, we found a few bugs that meant we didn’t want to push it to everyone and so are fixing those. We’re aiming to get a new build in Testflight later this week and then to everyone early next week (but this may change  ). Then the same order as Android.

See above — broadly, no. Those who missed out on crowdfunding will come first and then we’ll go from there — the product team may choose specific groups of people to help us test those flows out and make sure everything works really smoothly.

But the aim is to get it to everyone ASAP.

PS. Things will change from what I’ve posted above. That’s the big downside of transparency, while also moving really fast. I’d implore you to be understanding of that and not get annoyed that things are delayed from our internal targets, that we’ve shared externally. The alternative is just sharing external targets far more in the future and we really don’t want to end up having to do that!

Thanks for the update Tristan!

You still pushing for end of November for everyone on iOS or is this likely to slip into December a little?

I just need to find a job within Monzo that I can do then I am applying!

If you’re not willing to deal with buggy software, you shouldn’t be using TestFlight versions. The whole point of TestFlight is to provide pre-release software to a group of testers who can identify issues. Nothing’s gone wrong here, in fact it’s gone right: the TestFlight testers identified bugs before the software was released.

You can go back to using the white CA preview app (also from TestFlight). You can also re-install the app store version of the blue app. That will provide you with you historical transaction data from the PP card. So you can go back to the apps you were using before.

I think the line of reasoning pursued here will lead Monzo (or any other company) to simply not provide any estimates. There’s a reason most companies don’t give a rough timeframe for when an app update will be out, and this is it: getting raked over the coals if something comes up that delays it. If we’d never been told that the iOS app was going to be released on Monday, no one would have had that expectation, and no one would be asking, “what went wrong”.

Can you code 500 million pounds in to my account?

We’re pushing (very hard). I’ll be able to give you a clearer estimate next week, but it’s still fully our intention to do that.

I did have a zero balance for the last few weeks as I’ve only been using the CA preview day-to-day with a quick PP topup and transfer to my wife if she needed money, so that will be why I’ve been missed from the list so far. No rush on consolidation… it would be nice to have the P2P from my CA, but I have a solution that works so I will wait as long as needed :+1:

Nice to have continuous feedback from my bank and the transparency when things go right (or wrong) is excellent :sunglasses:

This is very good feedback to know!

I have been using my Current Account full time for a while now, so my prepaid is very low. Is there anything we can do to help out here? Is there an amount that would allow us to upgrade and/or increase the chance of the merger going smoothly?

Thanks for the continued feedback @tristan, it’s much appreciated :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Just had something weird happen I’ve been pretty much using the current account preview app full time rather than the prepaid app with no problems. I have TestFlight for both apps but haven’t been whitelisted to migrate yet.

Tonight I purchased something from iTunes which is linked to my current account but the notifications of purchase came from the prepaid app.

Has anybody else seen this?

That’s a backend thing that’s been reported a few times. It’s driven by customer rather than account (or something) so things bleed through on occasion.

It was never a priority to worry about since the two app state was a transient phase.

You are absolutely right. Apologies.

Maybe its already been mentioned but anyone know how long until we can upgrade to current account?

@Jordan is the expert but I think having more than £15 or so on there is the requirement (right now). But the app update to fix that is coming v soon too, so we’ll get it to ya!

eeekk, I did an Account Migration with £0 in my prepaid (but money in my Current Account Preview) on iOS.
Does that mean I might have broken something? :astonished:

Me too, on Android though. Had £0.00 on my old prepaid but money in the current account.

I didn’t get any email notification - just opened the app and there was the banner at the bottom of the screen.

@Snook @Pipefish I may be wrong, but I recall reading that the low balance is only an issue if you have pending transactions. @anon50039658, could you clarify?
