TSB down again - any spare Golden ticket?

Monzo outages are expressed in hours instead of weeks so I don’t think there’s much opportunity to backfire - by the time any competitor notices the outage will be resolved already.

No but the customer would. If they’ve switched as Monzo have marketed themselves as more reliable and then have a problem (like yesterday) then they’ll soon doubt their decision to move. The duration doesn’t really matter, it’s about perception

I think it’s best for Monzo users to sing Monzo’s praises during this period to save looking opportunistic and to avoid a PR disarster if something went wrong, quite a few Monzo Golden tickets on #tsbdown posted already

Keep them coming people

I get this on Android, too. Usefully, the one I just posted in the thread was used.

We won’t be doing this. :slightly_smiling_face: :hot_coral_heart:

Yes, but you don’t get told when it’s used anymore, and you dont get the next one automatically. So, you have to ask, but you dont know when to ask (unless the person tells you they’ve done it)

The notification does tell you it’s used! This notification was just as I posted it in the golden ticket queue, and then someone used it.

Tapping into the app shows me this

And then if I click into that it tells me it was used.

Hmmm - well mine doesn’t, and when I asked the COps a few weeks ago, they said they have to do it manually these days. I have had to ask for my last three tickets.

My golden ticket was used ages ago and I’m still seeing the notification that I’ll get a new one once it’s used - which it has been.

yes I got that message , but now have two golden tickets on the payments screen with a 2 in an orange circle at top right of screen and if I scroll down payments screen a note at the bottom “you have two golden tickets” - Im on iOS version 1.9.32 # 390

 to all of your points … I’ll find out if we know about golden tickets being odd.

Yeah, ambulance chasing is a terrible look. The TV service that I work for, I keep an eye on people mentioning it on Twitter, and a while back any tweets with people complaining would get a smarmy reply from Sky suggesting they switch over, made me hate the Evil Empire even more.

I would caution against any users on here dropping links to golden ticket threads etc on facebook/twitter for people you don’t know, lest we look even more like a cult than usual. Even though we’re a nice cult. I think. But people on the inside always say that. Hmm.

I gave a ticket away and deleted it from my thread but on another screen it says you will get another after it is used, but it does not seem to be used. However, having cleared the entry from my timeline I can now no longer find the ticket number.

my golden tickets also stopped coming through, I now have to ask Cops for them.

But also #HugOps to TSB, despite them being “rivals”

Yeah that’s another bug. If you clear the feed entry, you lose the ticket. Having spoken to the COps, I got the impression they weren’t fixing these bugs because tickets’ days were numbered anyway, but if there are 50k people waiting again, then I’m guessing it could be a while!

The idiots at TSB apparently consider the upgrade a success and even brag about it in a press release: http://press.bancsabadell.com/en/News/2018/04/banco-sabadell-successfully-completes-tsb-technology-migration (over HTTP of course because it’s 1995)

Quoting for when they finally realise and delete it:

Banco Sabadell successfully completes TSB technology migration

Chairman Josep Oliu highlights that “migration is an excellent starting point for the organic growth of the business and the improvement of TSB’s efficiency”.
According to Josep Oliu, the new Proteo4UK platform will provide a “greater competitive capacity and increased value creation for our franchise”.
Banco Sabadell has successfully completed the TSB technology migration. The implementation of the new Proteo4UK platform represents a new milestone in the history of Banco Sabadell Group, and particularly in its progress in terms of the bank’s internationalisation. It is also the first ever project outside of Spain in which the bank has created a new banking platform from scratch and completed a large scale migration of the platform.

The Chairman, Josep Oliu, has emphasised that “with this migration, Sabadell has proven its technological management capacity, not only in national migrations, but also on an international scale. The new Proteo4UK platform is an excellent starting point for the organic growth of the business and the improvement of TSB’s efficiency”.

Oliu also stated that “more than 5.4 million customers are now integrated into the new platform, which allows us to grow in a market as mature and highly competitive as the UK market.” Equally, the Chairman has also stated that the migration will provide a “greater competitive capacity and increased value creation for our franchise”.

For TSB, the Proteo4UK migration project is the best strategic decision it could have made when compared to the technological alternatives considered at the time, as the platform fulfils its business requirements and supports its strategy. Total synergies arising from the migration are estimated to amount to £160M on an annual basis.

The new Proteo4UK platform offers increased operational simplicity, which, for example, enables significant time savings in the implementation of the principal business and operational processes. The new platform also generates new opportunities, such as the launch of the SME business and enhanced user experience thanks to the digitalisation and homogenous omni-channel deployment of products and services.

New challenges

The teams that have participated in migration have proven to have the skills and knowledge required, which they have significantly developed and honed during the course of this project. Banco Sabadell’s proposal to be an agent of change has become evident, with an advanced technological proposition, not only in the domestic market but also on an international scale. With this project Banco Sabadell has created a competitive and value-added platform for the TSB franchise.

Whoops!

Genuine question for any mobile devs: is it common to re-use load-balancing libraries from other apps? This looks strange (disclaimer: might be fake but I could believe it considering the mess): https://twitter.com/HammadHussa1n/status/988566416780558336

I didn’t think you could access source for other apps in iOS anyway, unless it was ported from the Netflix Android app?

They just used a library that’s been released by Netflix under an open-source license. Very common and in fact it’s the proper thing to do for basic blocks like an HTTP client (which is what this appears to be), encryption (use OpenSSL or LibreSSL), etc. It’s safer to use battle-tested options rather than rolling your own.

Ahh I see, that makes sense thanks. Do similar things in web dev but was surprised it kept the com.netflix... reference, thought if it was open-source it wouldn’t be doing that. I’m not a mobile dev though, I’m sure it’s very different.
