Triodos Chat

Presume the Triodos Chat was lost in the exodus.

Now in Google Pay as well as Apple Pay, although I’m going to keep using it via SumUp Pay so I get cashback!

Quite possibly! I think it’s a shame that had to happen and they couldn’t have just changed the original post author or something.

I love the idea of Triodos, would consider them if they had slightly better app features.

it is very basic, but it all works well at least. I’d been using Curve for Google Pay which now I don’t really ever need.

Anyone know if Triodos do a hard or soft credit check when applying for a new account?

We’re excited to announce Visa Click to Pay - a new way to shop online quickly and securely with your Triodos Visa Debit Card.

Visa Click to Pay removes the need for manually entering card details when making online payments. Simply enter the email address and phone number you use for your Triodos current account to receive a one-time passcode, then enter the passcode to complete your payment. You can use Click to Pay wherever you see this symbol.

You will be able to use Visa Click to Pay from mid-November and we will confirm this to you in an email and a feed message when it’s available.

What you need to do

| Please make sure your mobile number, email and address information is correct.

Visa will use your mobile number, email and address to set you up with Click to Pay. If you don’t want them to do this, you can disable it by going to Card settings in the Triodos Mobile Banking App or Internet Banking.

In line with this new feature, we’ve updated the terms and conditions for your Triodos Current Account. We’ve added details about Visa Click to Pay and clarified some existing information.

I’m not sure how this is easier than typing in my card number.

Presumably it’s more(ish) secure. Although how many people, after finding something they want to buy online, would then not go ahead and buy it because the merchant only accepted ‘old style’ card numbers?

I noticed in my Starling account, they’ve got Mastercard Click to Pay setup - although they’ve not (as far as I’m aware) mentioned it in any publicity and I’ve never seen a website with that as an option…

Update from Triodos today - insights now available in the mobile banking app.

After trying Triodos a couple of times over the past few years I decided to give them another go. I signed up for an account in the app, and within a day the account was open and I was able to add my card to Google Pay. I am aware of the negatives - like “faster” payments, but I tried a couple of payments in and out of the account and both ways they took between 30 mins and an hour or so. I have other accounts I can use should I need to make an instant payment. I like that they now do Google and Apple Pay - the last time I had a Triodos account I had to use a Curve card to pay with my phone. I like the app and how they feel more mainstream than the likes of LHV. I spent the morning manually moving over my direct debits and once the card arrives I shall do the same with my continuous payment authorities.

What happens when you make a payment online with the debit card? Do they use ‘Verified by VISA’ or have they moved on to something else? I still remember the dastardly DigiPass.

To answer my own question, you simply verify in the Triodos app - like with many other banks.

My direct debits are all set up in the account, I have been using it online and in shops for the past week or so and so far it has been plain sailing. I know they are working towards instant faster payments so that’s good. It’s a much better experience than it was a couple of years ago when I had an account. The app is slick, I don’t like that you have to use the app to verify yourself when you use the online banking - seems to defeat the object, but again some other banks do this too.

I really want to get on with Triodos, I like the app, but it’s very difficult to use having been spoilt by instant notifications, pots, they don’t even offer an overdraft anymore (and that was the reason for their £3 a month charge as they claimed it made it fair between people in credit and overdrawn)

Plus the issues I had in the past with using TFL and my debit card they clearly use someone else infrastructure hence why payments are not instant

There’s a single website showing a new branding exercise for Triodos. Don’t know if it’s official or just someone playing, but I’m minded straight away of Radiohead’s bear logo and a cartoon bomb falling. Bit of Toyota too.

We’ll see…
