Thinking of applying to work for Monzo! Have a few questions (customer services)

It was a long time ago. Dead horse and all.

Not a guaranteed outcome for everyone, but Customer Service allowed me to gain experience from the ‘other side’. As in the people that ultimately pay your wages.

I learned an incredibly valuable skill of how to deal with people. Globally. From phone support to on-site support, to managing CS staff, to Directing the whole CS operation. It allowed me to work in places I never expected or dreamed of.

So don’t knock CS - the experience can be career-forging.

Am I still in CS now? No. Sales. With benefits. And the CS experience is an invaluable tool in my professional armoury.

I don’t disagree. You learn a lot of skills in CS, mainly because it’s a very difficult job.As you say, the ability to take someone from ‘I’m extremely angry and upset’ to ‘I love this company and will use you again’ is a long way from easy - I suspect most senior people in a company would completely fail at it if they tried.

But if you want to make a career change in to sales your fastest way would be to move into sales. And yes you can move up the CS ladder itself, but the OP seemed to want to move out of it entirely after a year.

I associate Breville with the sandwich maker. Had one way back when they first came out.

I don’t, the name comes from a Ross noble sketch I was watching when I chose it.

I haven’t seen it for years but of course it’s on you tube. From 00:45
