I still can’t believe the toilet roll thread didn’t make the cut.

What started as an April Fool (did anyone check the date/time?) turned into one of the most personally revealing threads on the internet.

I love this thread for 3 reasons;

1. I tried to be nice and you just went in with the truth bombs
2. That he posted and never returned
3. Everyone agreed it was awful

The results are in!

So what do we find…

1. Awards to Extras, Perks and Max for the best Monzo launch (Garmin Pay was robbed)!
2. Everyone is thirsty for Joint Account Parity! You poor, poor, dehydrated people, you…
3. Over in the US… UK folk think they really need a full web version of Monzo. (I think the US folk are mostly befuddled about what Monzo is actually doing over there… But 2025 is the year for Monzousa…?)
4. The best community moment surprisingly wasn’t my absence (@N26throwaway wouldn’t allow it) - but It was the advert popcorn! I even got some - and very nice it was too - thanks @AlanDoe! (Also love to everyone for getting my glorious return to second place. I know @Revels was lobbying hard for me!)
5. Everyone really loved the Extra, Perks and Max topic. Looks like Monzo has a community winner in the new paid accounts!
6. It was inevitable. The best ongoing threat was collected thoughts on card design. Who knew you all liked little rectangles of plastic quite so much?! (Everyone, given the popularity of the thread - Ed).
7. Best community feedback: Extra, Perks and Max! Goodness, they really were popular. (I suppose it’s been clear for years that the Monzo Community loves a sausage…).
8. The best community engagement goes to the Flex and Borrowing team! They really are good at this sort of thing aren’t they?
9. There was never any doubt. The incomparable @AlanDoe is strongly the Monzonaut of the year! Let’s throw the gauntlet down to those very important people who talk about the power of community but are all take and no give!
10. Finally, the contributor of the year… @N26throwaway ! I just hope it’s enough for him to release me - these chains are beginning to chaff!

Oh, and the special bonus poll has told me who my friends are. @Revels - I’m coming to you for Christmas!

Now I can hear @N26throwaway coming so some ideas for topics to sprinkle throughout the year:

• a predictions topic / poll for what might happen with Monzo and banking in 2025
• a Monzo minor niggles / issues topic poll - to help Monzo spark joy and fix the little things
• a big poll for new Monzo features - maybe a discussion topic first then ideas picked out of it and polled (although now we have Garmin Pay…)

And some parting thoughts:

1. Be kind to each other and to new posters. Remember that no one has to reply to anything - there have been a few topics that have made for slightly uncomfortable reading
2. Monzo’s biggest issue is customer service - fix that and the world will be theirs
3. Love to everyone (even @Revels) - you are all amazing.

Now, hopefully I just have time to let you into a secret… I haven’t been exactly honest about my identity - all these years, I’ve really been…

My issue is not so much “live” vs “regular” chat. Most things can wait an hour or so for a response.
But when resolutions take literal weeks for simple problems, they really have dropped the ball.

The Flex/Borrowing team

The Flex/Borrowing team continue to set the standard for stellar community engagement. They have won this poll every single time. I hope they continue to inspire the other teams at Monzo to try to dethrone them. Engagement from monzo on the level of the Flex team makes the community so much better.
