The Monzo Current Account Preview

There isn’t a queue as such, but there are criteria.

At this early stage, in order to be eligible for the current account, you’ll need to have been a Monzo customer for at least six months, with the majority of your transactions made in GBP in the UK and be a UK resident.

I believe if you fall into this criteria, the selection is random.

Doh! I must have missed the UK resident part (or perhaps it wasn’t there a few weeks ago). I do most of my Monzo transactions in GBP, my salary is paid in GBP (and would have been deposited into the Monzo account) and I’ve got an Alpha card.

I applied and got my invitation yesterday but the app wouldn’t let me get past the address part without a UK address.

Hopefully those with existing Monzo accounts but who now live outside the UK (I was living there when I got my card originally) will still be able to convert to a current account when the preview is finished.

Got my invite. However this TestFlight email is taking an age (well about 5hrs so far out of 24)

Mine ended up in my junk mail folder - might be worth checking?

Thanks. I have been. Read it’s a business day so only filled in in about 2pm yesterday. Also I think the test flight emails are manual and not auto generated. Will see what happens by the end of the day

Why? I’d bet the next batch is going to be pretty soon and pretty big…

@anon93718513, don’t worry, it’s just @anon72173902 testing new tactic to get CA.

The new hot coral is much brighter than on my Mondo card too!

Hold in there, I was starting to think i was never going to get my invite…

Despite being in the first 30k users, i don’t seem to be very lucky when it comes to being selected for additional testing, early roll outs, or investing… Just the luck of the draw i guess

Ok then, I just got my current account.

I’ve got a good amount in my standard Monzo account, how would I go about moving it?

Monzo Standard -> Paypal invoice myself -> Transfer to Monzo Current account.

The only thing is, this will incur fees. Anyone got ideas of how I can dodge them via another method? Or am I just going to have to eat the fees on this occasion.

You should be able to “top up” your PayPal account with money from a debit card?

If not, you can either withdraw the money at a cash machine and cash it in to a legacy bank or ask COPs for a refund of the balance to the original top up card.

Roger that.

I’ll give the first one a go.

Withdraw from an ATM deposit in your legacy bank and transfer (I know seems a lot of leg work but won’t cost anything)

Yeah, it should be free as you are literally just moving money into your PayPal account. You could also send it to a trusted family member and get them to send it back to you via PayPal which would also be free?

Trusted family member is a good shout. Given that it’s fee less.

Withdrawing the funds manually is ALOT of legwork. Given most ATMs in the UK have a £200 limit!

I’ve taken £500 at an ATM before with no issue.

Ah yeah, it also depends how much money you have in the account! Would recommend you talk to COPs first as they may be able to refund the balance to your CA card now?

I’ll do that first. Given it may be the easiest way!

I think it’s a bit mean to say “testflight emails gone out to everyone that filled in the form so far” - I started searching my inbox franticly for anything from Monzo/testflight but nope :frowning:
I filled in the form on the Monzo website for the CA preview a while ago but nothing here.

Must be referring to another type of form
