No you can go ahead and register interest in the current account.
Do bear in mind that they are looking for people with 6 months of usage on the prepaid product though.

Stupid Question: If you get a current account now, are you still able to use CASS later on*?

*When it’s available.

Starling accounts still have CASS even though you have an open account, I’m sure this must be a similar workflow for Monzo in the future.

One question, if we get a current account now, will we have the same sort code & account number as when the fully finished product is launched? I’d like to move my bills/salary to the account but not if I’ll have to update everyone again a few months later?

This is an important question. I imagine ā€˜yes’ but good to be sure as it will impact things like Direct Debits etc…

Yes, it’ll be the same sort code and account number :slight_smile: But note that your card will be replaced at some point so you may have to update the long card number on online sites. Although @rdingwall has some crazy ideas about that too…

A couple more questions.

  1. I understand that the customer support will be initially operating limited hours. Am I right however I thinking that the systems will be monitored 24/7 for any general problems? If I’m relying on it as my main bank account and there was a general technical problem on Saturday morning, I would want to be sure that people were monitoring and able to ideally deploy a fix rather than having to rely on credit cards and the like until Monday morning.

  2. During this rollout phase, will there be any guarantees if for instance, a payment was to fail due to system downtime and the customer was left out of pocket?

Thanks for being willing to start the roll-out before all the intended launch features are ready. I realise there are challenges to rolling out a product which isn’t yet where you want it to be, but we are also all very impatient. It looks like you’ve found the right balance between the two. :grin: :hugs: :tada:
