The latest news on our credit insights tool

This graphic is wrong. Check my score out of 999 and then look at the pointer. That’s clearly pointing sub-500.

Might be a logarithmic scale where, for example, the value between each red and orange marker is larger than the value between each yellow and green marker.

This is actually based off the score ranges that Experian have on their website.

Generally credit reference agency scales are not linear. TransUnion, for example, is out of 710, but it’s basically impossible to get a score below 300.

It looks daft. The other two graphics more or less align to the scores.

Perhaps the Experian one shouldn’t show a Zero at the bottom of the scale.

Edit. And I guess Transunion should start at 300 rather than big fat 0.

Believe it or not, we tested dozens of versions of this and this one came out best  There were three principles we wanted to uphold and found there is no way to meet all three:

  1. Dial fills linearly with score (i.e. 20 points always equals 1 pip) for predictability
  2. Red-yellow-green colour coding matches the bureau’s own definition for consistency
  3. Colours take up an equally distributed amount of the dial to make reading across easy

For example, here’s what the TransUnion dial looks like if you follow principles 1 and 2 and sacrifice 3:

Even if you start at 300, the first 50% of the dial is red. The problem with this is it makes it hard to distinguish when you go from yellow to green, for example, which is something that customers we researched with cared about.

In the end we went with an option that sacrificed principle 1. We’re listening to feedback though and can revisit the decision if it’s something we hear lots of strong opinions on.

Comparing my Experian and Equifax score makes something look ‘off’.

I am getting all three coming back with “Couldn’t find your file”…
No idea what the problem is as I have updated my address on almost everywhere and registered to vote…

How long does it take for Monzo to “working on it”?

The text on this tile, which I think is unnecessarily a tile, looks poor with the run off.
I can guess what it is, but would have expected ‘why do I have dif…’ to be the complete header when you open the tile, rather than ‘about credit scores’.
Come to think of it, ‘about credit scores’ would make more sense as a replacement to the ‘why do I have dif…’ text on the tile.

There’s now a section on the Home Screen below the casback section for credit insights :tada:

Challenge = accepted.

No there isn’t :pensive:

This sounds very interesting - have signed up for testing

I think that was just an ad. Certainly on :android: anyway. The big, ‘block’ graphic, which I tapped on ‘X’ as soon as I saw it. It’s no longer on my Home screen.

There is on mine

That’s more specific. Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for spotting, we’re going to fix this one soon

Hmm, as you mention this is typically due to address matching issues. Have you moved house recently? It might just take the bureaux a while to update everything on their end (“how long” = 1-2 months for typical reporting cycles).

If not, you may have an unusual address format (e.g. we’ve seen issues when someone’s address is formatted 1A10 Example Street in some places and Flat 1A, 10 Example Street in other places). If you think that might be the case, feel free to DM me and we can look at whether we can improve our address matching logic. Unfortunately it’s a messy process.

I have moved just under 4 months ago, so I can see that pretty much all the account have been updated to my current address. Unfortunately the address is confusing here as they decided that all 3 block should have the same block name and flat numbers! Will DM you

Hey everyone ,

I’m now excited to announce that we’ve fully rolled it out this week to all users not currently on one of our Plus, Premium, Extra, Perks or Max plans.

As always, let us know if you’ve got any thoughts or questions!

I’m Keenen (Engineer) from the Borrowing team, and we’re the team building credit insights, helping you get a better picture of your credit health and scores and what you could do to improve. We’ve been listening to your feedback and it’s been abundantly clear that there’s one improvement in particular many of you have been asking for!

I’m excited to share we’ll be rolling out a new score history feature that lets you do just that! You’ll be able to track how your credit scores have changed over time and see it all laid out on a beautiful graph.

Building your credit scores takes time and seeing how your score has changed visually can be really important to help you see trends and celebrate progress. Now you’ll be able to track your changes and also learn more about where your score sits for each credit bureau.

Demo

We’d love for you to check it out and share your thoughts! This feature will be available for both free and paid users and you can access it from the credit insights home. We have a lot more in the works including helping you understand why your score has gone up or down!
