Well that’s depressing
We are on the crazy cheap octopus go tariff Octopus Go | Octopus Energy, on 5p over night and 15p in the day until October. No idea how much it’s going to rise as there is no way that rate is still sustainable for octopus:
The founder of Energy Shop on Sky News now confirming that fixes have the predicted rises already built–in, and being on the price capped variable tariffs are the best choice.
The wholesale market…is way ahead of the current price cap, so the price cap is always cheaper than what price you can get in the competitive market. The competitive market is already reflecting those £5,000 bills. So given that the average household is paying less than £2,000, it makes no sense, even if you could get a deal, to jump from less than £2,000 to £5,000 right now. And it makes no sense to jump to £5,000 if for a three month period you pay £3,500.
My Go 15p/5p tariff just expired. Switched to Intelligent Octopus on 21-August as it was the same price as if I’d have renewed Go, but offers 6 hours at 7.5p instead of Go’s 4 hours at 7.5p
So long as I use those extra hours wisely, it’ll be cheaper than Go. Depressing to see the differences though (was away until Thursday, it instantly doubled upon switching, with no-one in the house) and this is just electric, no gas:
Currently paying somewhat less than the cap on Octopus Go, but in November… gulp.
I’ve already got a meter to see what I can start switching off…
To be honest with this split in two it’s only going to be £7 a week more for me personally, so thankfully I can cover that increase.
Less once you factor in the £400 grant plus any more help that’s given by the government once they’ve finished faffing about with their X-Factor grand final.
This is a super rough estimate, and will be going up once I’m back at work in November and using more to power my screens etc. We already have a direct debit of £150 so should be fine, and the £66 monthly credits will help. Annoyingly Scottish power are paying that into your bank account via BACS after you pay your bill, rather than adding it to your account as credit. So I’m going to have to keep manually paying it back and build up the credit
This is without us using any heating either, we’ve 2 kids under 4 so we’ll need to use some, and having just moved I’ve no idea how cold it might get inside over winter.
I miss my old fix we got a 3 year deal in April 2021 which was super cheap now looking back, but we couldn’t move it with us.
This is what BG are doing. To start with I’d have rather they added it as credit but now I’m going to leave it in my bill pot, rather I have it as available and get a penny in interest than they do.
Google says 85p a year to charge your phone
(A more recent article says £3.14 for a Pro Max 12)
Sounds about right to me, I think they draw about 3 watts when charging.
They are designed to use as little power as possible.
I always make sure everything is fully charged when leaving a hotel. I must have saved myself a £ or two over the years.
This would be mine had I not got a long fix for another 2 years. £85 a month.
Surely the tories need to actually do something but I’m guessing it’s like Monzo and treating joint accounts the same as individuals? (I am jesting before anyone actually wants to shout me down).
The sad reality in about 90 days people are going to start dying from the cold and damp conditions.
If you check your latest energy bill it should have your annual estimated kWh, it’s generally best to compare using those instead of your monthly amounts or rates, as it can match consumption more accurately.
Have you put the correct usage with the correct energy?
Mine came to similar horrible figures when I first did it, then I noticed I had traversed the figures
I think that’s to do with travelling. Did you mean transposed? Reversed?
Indeed I did
Cannot even blame autocorrect as I am using my MacBook
