Be careful an orange nutter will be there in a minute to try and invade it

I will be going on a solo holiday this year. Unfortunately i have no idea where until closer to time.

It is a mystery holiday that i got for £179 for 3-7 days including flights and accommodation.

I have a big list of all the locations you can get, 5 are in UK so hope i don’t end up with the Leeds one. Would not mind Scotland heard its lovely or Ireland.

That’s an interesting concept! What company did you use?

I’ve done this before. I booked through these folks: srprs.me

We didn’t find out where we were going until we were at the airport.

We ended up having a nice little weekend in Luxembourg. Never would have thought to visit there, so was really happy with it.

You get the weather forecast a little before so you do at least know what to pack

They also allowed us to put in preferences of type of holiday if we wanted to and also exclude a few countries.

It’s a shame it’s expensive going solo using that service. But then again it is for most solo trips when booking with such.

Really cool I’d be interested in trying it someday! I had no idea this kind of thing existed

I like the idea of the hostel pods style stays, I could deal with that.

Can’t deal with open bunk beds, I’d have a panic attack.

I’m imagining each of them sat on their separate beds, not talking to eachother, just on their phones tapping away on the community.

That’s the rules of any holiday.

I agree with this. Accommodation for 1 tends to be pretty much the same cost as 2 people in my experience.

I think i may use my 1p Saving Challenge for a solo holiday next year

Fuengirola booked (again) for March.

Seems March is a popular month for the community.

Hi all, have a quick question and wondered if anyone here had similar experience

Earlier last year on Jun 28, me and two friends had WizzAir flight W95725 from LGW to Malaga delayed by about 6 hours, it was caused by an issue another plane had on the runway

My friend attempted to claim by using some random third party company that he found online, I thought of it as more of a ā€œgive it a go, whateverā€ kind of thing because I didn’t realise we were legally entitled to anything

I met some people in Poland who actually explained the law and that they had £350 payouts multiple times from WizzAir - the company that friend used to claim say they are still trying, wizzair says we have an existing claim if I try to submit the form online

It’s been over 6 months - am I right to think that they might have pocketed the money?

Wizz should be able to let you know the status, or put in a DSAR specifically referring to those details.

Always go the airline for delays, never a random company online - but that advice is hindsight.

Where abouts in Tunisia did you go?

I’m going all inclusive to Tunisia next week - my most important question right now is: did you find any ATMs that don’t charge?

You are not entitled to compensation.

The issue on that day was because another plane aborted takeoff and blocked the runway.

Compensation under UK/EU 261 is only payable when the delay is within the airline’s control.

It made the news and I do remember that being the reason that day, a lot of other flights were delayed but ours was the worst

No this is just one of the rare occasions that someone’s come on here and left enough detail to be able to look up what happened.

It’s this:

Wizz do still have a duty of care though, so you should be able to claim food and (non alcoholic) drinks, but you would have needed to have kept receipts.

In fairness to Wizz they emailed us vouchers to purchase food from the stores at Gatwick, first £6 each and then when the delay was extended a further £8 each

I have mixed feelings about this. I believe the law is ā€˜reasonable expenses’. I would argue that after a 6 hour delay a food and drink bill of around Ā£30 per head at an airport is perfect reasonable.

As they’re a budget airline I imagine there’s some psychology going on here. If you tried to claim more you might be successful, but by giving vouchers for such low values they’re setting the expectation that everything else has to come out of your own pocket. It’s clever, cheeky and annoying.
