I’ll be buying one for summer!

Try opening the loft hatch if you have one, might pull the warm air up.

I’ve no doubt.

Which one? I think I’ll get a portable one for this year.

For the longer term, we are considering an LG DualCool split system. Condenser unit on the patio, with piping going to wall units in 3 of the rooms. The 3 rooms we’d like to keep cool in summer are all at the rear of the house, which should keep the install costs relatively low.

How do you handle the exhaust on your portable, just throw it out of the window?

Top tip: close your windows and shutters when it’s hotter outside, only open all windows when sundown to let the cooler air in. Having a fan on low moving the air around keeps it cooler, you might not need an AC.

I’m in an EPC E Victorian building with single-glazed windows. Cold as hell year round, finally shows its (drafty) value as I only need to close the West-facing windows and pull the curtains.

My OH got us Venty fans, worth the money for lower noises.

Ooooooooooooh yeah fan chat! My time to shine!

I have pedestal air circulators in the living room, and one in the bedroom. I got the Dreo smart fans that run via google home/smart assistant of choice. Then a desk fan from the same brand.

Had them a couple of summers now and they’ve been awesome. Especially like that I can tell google home to turn them on for me before I get home so its not all hot and stuffy when I walk into the flat. The one in the bedroom gets used during the winter as well. I find having a bit of air movement helps me sleep in general.

I hope it’s better than their washing machines which were absolute :poop: and eventually they provide me with a deadlock letter meaning we got a new washing machine. Not only was the WM of poor quality their customer service was appalling.

That’s concerning. Our washer dryer and fridge freezer are both LG.

Both have been fine so far. The app is really bad though.

Would agree 100% on this as our WM was LG which died inside their “10 Year Warranty” but they claimed that they couldn’t fix it.

Wouldn’t have another and the Haier we got to replace it seems a much better machine

I’ve heard good things about Haier.

When our LG stuff dies, we’ll probably go for either Haier or Bosch.

Worth checking Veygo as well (owned by Admiral).

Isn’t there a cooling-off period anyway? Presumably you could just buy normal insurance and then cancel it? I guess you’d get a pro-rata refund?

Unless you crash then no refund

My new fridge freezer is Haier. I like it and it’s all very well made, feels robust etc. Also extremely quiet and the frost free is :ok_hand:t5:

However mine came with a very faint hairline scratch across the front from top to bottom. I could really notice it at first but as time has gone on I’ve become blind to it now. I should have probably complained at the time, but I was too lazy to complain to AO about it.
