Do check. Lots of people in the UK have an Irish grandparent. Remember, it’s your granddad’s grandparents, so well back. He’d just need a parent or grandparent either properly Irish (i.e. with an Irish passport) or who’d been born anywhere on the island of Ireland. Definitely worth enquiring given that there’s €2000 to be had.
he ought to - you can also apply for a message from the King for 60th, 65th, 70th (and subsequent) wedding anniversaries:
Just had a look into the Irish scheme - it’s €2540 now, but only Irish citizens born on the island of Ireland (and current Irish residents) are eligible.
Oh well. Way too many potential Irish citizens for them to pay out to all I guess. Me and first son are eligible, so must pop it in the calendar to remind me to claim it
I’ll be sure to let my dad know in 25 years’ time!
Don’t forget to move to Ireland when you’re 99 too
I couldn’t find anywhere more sensible to ask this, so I thought here would be good enough.
Does anyone know how Apple News is supposed to work?
I get a different feed on my iOS devices to that on my MacBook. Both signed into the same account.
You appear to be looking at two different sections of Apple News here. You’ve got Top Stories on one and For You on the other.
My iPhone, iPad and Mac are all showing exactly the same Top Stories and For You sections at the moment.
You’re right, but I can’t find a way to change the MacBook News to match IOS.
It looks like you’ve closed the side bar on the MacBook. If you open that there should be a “Today” option at the top that takes you to Top Stories.
Thanks. That’s solved it.
I’m loving the new recipe / cooking feature with News + it’s excellently implemented, though works much better on a larger screen than an iPhone
Has something happened to the forum?
I can’t find my beloved App Store Monopoly thread or even the one for ios18.
Is it just me?
A group of users grew frustrated and chose to leave. They requested their accounts were deleted (and therefore every post they have ever made under that account) rather than anonymised.
So any Topic created by one of those users and any of their posts within any topic created by anyone else will have disappeared.
Some of my historical posts make no sense at all now. Not that they ever did when the place was intact tbf
Cheers!
I’ve been pretty busy with life over past six weeks so haven’t been as active as usual and all this has obviously passed me by.
No idea who created the Monopoly thread but I can’t believe it wasn’t me!
This is your big chance then
I didn’t even click but this got rid of a load of threads didn’t it. Such as the Apple ones for a start.
Who else is Apple enough to start it again?
I wish in that instance they’d anonymised the first thread, Reddit wise, and deleted the posts from those that left in the others.
