Aren’t you thrilled to write that? ![]()
My school days reignited.
About 5 years ago now I went through and deleted everything from my Facebook account. Photos, videos, posts, comments, and completely locked down my privacy settings.
I still have the account, the local Facebook groups and marketplace are still useful, but I only use it via a browser now.
Instagram is a bit love/hate. It’s great because all my friends are there and they post regularly, but it’s also terrible because once you’ve seen the content from your friends, you just get pushed utter timewasting trash.
I used to find myself just repeatedly opening the app throughout the day and mindlessly scrolling.
I’ve got an aggressive screen time limit on mine now and turned off all notifications and that seems to be working for me.
WhatsApp is going to be hard to shake because again all my friends and family are there (apart from a few folks over in Austria who use Signal). I really want the whole RCS thing to take off, but it’s going to be slow.
I thought RCS was pretty much rolled out now? You can create groups within the Messages app on iOS (and I presume the Android equivalent) that mixes uses of both iMessage and RCS. I personally don’t like WhatsApp most people use it as default because they think it’s free and sending photos through Messages isn’t.
I did go through a phase of replying to people’s WhatsApp messages via iMessage/SMS but nobody took the hint.
That’s the issue. It’s only good if people actually use it and that’s going to take time.
I’m stuck in an endless log in loop with Facebook. I wanted to log in to delete it but can’t. I gave up trying. I have Instagtram but haven’t posted much for years. I hate seeing things I’m not following. Will probs delete in the not to distant future. Would love to ditch WhatsApp but I’m in a group that I need to be in. Was really hoping RCS would take off but lots of providers still don’t offer it.
Pretty sure it’s just Vodafone at this point that hasn’t launched RCS for iOS.
It’s more than just Vodafone according to Apple’s page, assuming it’s correct
Wouldn’t rely on that as it’s outdated.
EE, Three and O2 supported networks have it.
Vodafone, including their MVNOs do not have it.
The hint that works is completely ignore them on Whatsapp. They will find you where you want.
This will be my plan, and then just go to a grey profile unreachable
That’s good to know. One day I can ditch WhatsApp ![]()
You only ever hear about nerds with iPhones complaining about WhatsApp and wanting to use iMessage.
Normal people don’t give a ■■■■. WhatsApp is just how they message. It’s also just a way better app/service than iMessage!
Wouldn’t say it’s better, just more convenient due to the UK base utilising WhatsApp, unlike USA which utilises iMessage.
Obviously just my opinion, but I don’t think it’s even close.
If WhatsApp was made by , I’d wager there wouldn’t even be a conversation.
Likely because we trust Apple with our data more than meta.
Thanks for the complement
In my opinion, WhatsApp is cluttered, confusing, includes calls and pointless stories. Plus it’s owned by Meta who will want to sell me stuff. Apples take on messages is cleaner, easier and more private.
Has anyone here successfully used the Pay with Lidl feature? I linked my card but I still had to use my Apple wallet card to make the payment. Scanning the Lidl+ card didn’t take payment from my card.
Never saw an advantage to linking a card it saves what seconds as usually my Lidl Plus card is scanned at the start of the shop (for me anyway) and the extra seconds took to pull out a phone or card to tap are minimal
I thought scanning once would save me more time. Now I had to also do the Apple wallet thing, having to choose a specific card to use.
