Quite right!
Oh dear. Where doth please you?
Not sure I could cope with living in a tiny London apartment compared to the house I have up north - but each to their own!
I got a jar of sprout kimchi in Waitrose the other day (currently wrapped and in the fridge!) but making it into hot sauce is a step beyond!
I lived in London for 20 years and moved back to Glasgow this year. I miss seeing my friends, I miss my old job, I miss the fast and extensive public transport. I don’t miss the hordes of people everywhere and I certainly don’t miss the mortgage bill. (Still getting to go back fairly regularly for work though so it’s good to have in small doses).
We have a house with only 1 neighbour and it’s quite remote. Love the peace and quiet.
Especially from all the salespeople that come knocking, and the masses of leaflets that used to get posted through the door when I lived in a town.
I think it must be a sign of getting old and grumpy ![]()
I can’t see myself not living in or very close to a large city. I just find the facilities and access to things you might want or need is much better. The idea of living in the middle of the nowhere just fills me with unease ![]()
At my age I like to be close to an A&E, cardiac unit, str*ke unit… (it won’t let me post the word with an “o” in it).
“Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
— Samuel Johnson
Samuel Johnson was also half blind and half deaf.
These days I can’t do much without my glasses. Seems my mum was right about that… ![]()
The other half of his sight and hearing were okay.
