This is the most fun review of the year so far.

Pretty much sums me up

They’ve not much to go on, to be fair. I don’t use ChatGPT very much.

Happy Christmas Eve Everyone!!!

I did make the rookie mistake yesterday of going back into London to see Oxford Circus and Regent Street all lit up. Never seen London at Christmas before so I did venture back into the capital.

The lights looked amazing and made the whole street really nice was just impossible to move down the street and nearly got run over by a lime bike!

I did have lunch in the IKEA City at Oxford Circus. Honestly I loved it and walking around you do forget it’s a IKEA in the middle of London.

(Yes I did look like a complete tourist taking these pictures)

Feel like walking around a city sightseeing like this isn’t as bad as having to go into the crowded shops for last minute shopping. Always fun seeing the christmas lights

When I was a kid we used to drive into London every Christmas to go see the lights etc. Maybe next year I’ll hop on the train and go for a wee wander around myself. They look amazing!

I hate London, I was there the other weekend, could not wait to get out.

The only good thing about it is that you can now get the Elizabeth Line and it is cheaper then the Underground.

Obligatory post saying London is fine and people over react when it’s mentioned

It’s too busy for me, and I find the people too obnoxious because they’re living in London like it’s the best place on the planet :joy:

I mean to be honest northerners do the exact same thing about living in the north.

If you can think the northern cities are the best places to live why can someone in London not think the same thing about their own city? Seems a bit hypocritical .

Wholly agree, I’m from Wrexham so can’t really have an opinion :joy:

You can extrapolate it to anything - Wales/Scotland/NI etc.

I think everyone should be proud and happy in the town or city they live in. Wherever that may be.

The main issue I personally have with a lot of northerners is their love of the north is predicated on their dislike of London. Most proud Londoners are proud of London without being detrimental to another place

I can appreciate that, but when it’s a case of feeling they’re better than everyone else (first hand experience) then I lose any love for it.

Again, literally people who dislike London think the same thing.

You’re not being any different to how you think Londoners are towards you

I’m not sure how else to explain what I am trying to say.

Londoners are fine, Londoners that are snobby and point their nose in the air at everyone through money or whatever else, not fine.

I don’t get that in the north, even from those with money.

I see it all over. Including the north. So it happens everywhere.

This is true. Ask people from Yorkshire, Manchester, Scotland etc. who go on about the amazingness of where they are. The issue is with some people who never venture out of where they are from, and it works both ways.

Plenty of people outside London criticise it without spending time there and plenty of people in London think nothing exists outside the M25.

Luckily, I live 90mins away so I can dip in and out as needed and that’s the right mix for me.

I sit in the middle on London. Grew up near it so spent a lot of time there as a kid/teen. All my mates did the “London thing” once they finished Uni. At the time I had no interest in living in London just liked partying in London. They all loved London and had the London is the centre of universe attitude.

Now I’m considering if I would actually like to go to London. But not sure if rocking up in my early forties it would be as fun as it would have been in my twenties.

I do secretly love these chats because ultimately it’s never resolved but an eternal discussion nonetheless.
