They’re not currently taking new applications:
also, have they changed the design since they first launched them? Those are very retro looking. Don’t remember the last time I saw the Visa pigeon hologram on the front of a card!

I had one in 2001 and it looked exactly like this.
Also, I’d forgotten they still have a Gold Card that is actually gold.
Still looks the same. I wonder if it’ll get moved to being a Co-op Credit Card soon?
Extrapolating wildly, do they need Smile anymore?
I suspect that it’ll go directly to a Coventry credit card unless it expires in the next year or two.
Just an update to this.
Despite Co-Op telling the Ombudsman that the reporting on my credit file was appropriate, I’ve finally received my statement today… showing a NIL balance at account closure!
So, they have reported inaccurate information afterall (as I knew!)
This one - it’s not uncommon for companies to have a number that can be called from overseas that is different to their UK number.
The formatting of the number is annoying me.
You’re overthinking it. It’s normal.
Do you ever give yourself a minute?
Dry, cold and dark.
I’m assuming folks are just teasing @jo but I’m finding the replies just a wee bit uncomfortable to read every time they post…
You are definitely overthinking it
However, they never stopped offering current account services to existing customers. The Moneymanager accounts have always worked abroad and still do. What’s missing since 2019 are the debit cards.
I think Information about current account services | Help is still there largely because it was forgotten about. That said, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Coventry First reawaken in the coming year.
I had an account with Coventry BS years ago. I asked them then for the no to call when abroad as I had an aversion to calling non-geographic numbers eg 03xx and 08xx I used the number they gave me to call them if I was in the UK.
Going by the way other places are rolling out their new features to a select group of existing customers, I imagine that the existing Moneymanager customers will get to try out the new Coventry current account first.
Also strikes me that maybe the time has come to merge the CoOp and Coventry threads
Have you guys seen this? Coventry Building Society Current Accounts | Fair Investment
Haven’t seen it anywhere else but seems fairly detailed i.e. 1.1% interest with bonus in first year, etc. Wondering if the detail implies it’s about to be launched?
Coventry haven’t even taken over the Co-op Bank yet!
It sounds as if that website is describing the old MoneyManager account that they used to offer
Website looked to mention 16+ all over it.
That latest link isn’t describing Moneymanager as the details are quite different. They’re also quite different to what was Coventry First. I don’t know where the information is coming from, but it seems to be new.
Also accept that they haven’t completed the takeover but there’s nothing to stop them reintroducing a full current account before that.
They’d need to do a CASS+ or people would lose all the transaction history. It doesn’t address the savings accounts.
Interestingly, they are still in CASS, although at the moment you can only CASS out from the Moneymanager accounts. They’re also sort-of still in Visa as the cards still work abroad in Plus ATMs.
Any age I think, but 16+ for online and phone access: Coventry Building Society – savings-and-investments, account summary
