I have found myself using the summary amount left to determine how much I have left and make decisions based on days left and amount left. My actual balance is pointless to me.
The learn more about budgeting won’t go away either… I am unlikely to use the budget system, can’t understand why colours were removed at all.
Genuinely feel like having the overall budget be set by asking how much of your starting balance you’d like to save would be more useful for me. With some analysis on what my average monthly spend is. But like @WillP79 said mine is sometimes hugely variable.
Kinda, yeah. I’m struggling a bit with it - the ring doesn’t work now unless you set an overall target. But there’s no indication anywhere of how much you’ll have left over after committed spending, so you can just enter any amount and the ring will adjust accordingly.
So, if you have £200 left in your account to last you to payday, but you’ve set a budget of £600 to spend, it’ll all go green.
I’m confused. I must be missing something. Or maybe there’s more to come?
But that was the point, no? Either you get paid with a salary and the ring takes care of calculating what’s left to spent or you throw money in your bank when you can/want in which case you setup your budget manually overriding the ring’s predictions. The latter also works with “irregular” salary periods.
So instead of intelligently predicting left to spend based on previously available data Monzo team has taken a step back and made this dial thing even more useless.
They haven’t added a second mode of operation though, they’ve just replaced the functionality now that the RAG dial only works if you set an overall budget.
