The coming soon to Statements has just arrived
The interesting thing for me when reading this is that some customers really rate Monzo because of in-app top-ups, including the use of Apple Pay for doing it, when comparing with other products on the market.
However, elsewhere on the forum, Monzo have said that this is a source of losses for them.
So, for the time being, top-ups (including using Apple Pay) are back but with the caveat that Monzo would prefer us to only use them in emergencies, as per their blog post. Clearly, though, there are some customers who consider it as an noteworthy feature, and may have no intention of using it only in emergencies but as their primary means of putting money into their Monzo accounts.
Iām interested to see how this will play out. Personally (I emphasize this is only my view), as long as there are customers who see topping-up via the app/with Apply Pay as a core feature and USP, I think itās inevitable Monzo will end up having to charge a fee for that feature. Would that change the Monzo vs. Competitor dynamics?
I joined Starling three or four months ago and have yet to see a card. Total joke.
So what did they say when you asked them where it was?
Oh dear! Mine arrived on the third working day.
Something must have gone totally wrong, have you asked support, are you sure you typed your address for correspondence correctly?
Clearly something went wrong. Didnāt follow it up?
Nah. Iāll stick with Monzo.
Been with Monzo for 4 weekās and they are amazing and exactly what I needed as was struggling with getting Banking for Crypto related Activity.
I believe they are the only Digital Bank that has Instant Faster Payments. If I am wrong please correct me here.
On top of that had a slight issue and the Monzo Support were amazing.
Starling Bank also have this
Hi,
Ah OK as I know most these Digital Bankās donāt as was with Tide and Faster Paymentās used to take 1 hour or more.
Does Starling have itās own payment system like Tide?
Hi,
Yes checked there site out etc, They donāt allow accounts for Buying or selling of Crypto Currency. Unlike Monzo whom are OK on that front.
I will stick to good old Monzo very annoying why Bankās are ignoring the future! Cash is gone everything is digital anyway.
Hi,
Monzo allow it as we had a lot of incoming and outgoing payments and Monzo asked us for Proof of payments and where we buying etc.
Just spoke to Starling as we require a higher limit and Starling have said they donāt allow Crypto Currency payments and does not support or allow for such.
Basically itās just trading buying and selling Crypto when itās high and low etc. (Most of the UK Bankās are **** about it)
Iām not surprised. Starling hasā¦ Some practices I find very odd. Iāll leave it at that.
Tide is not a Bank.
Tide is an emoney institution.
No do tellā¦Iām interested!
Iād rather not dig that back up. Thereās at least three things I find very off-putting. Letās not dig them back out.
You said it in the first place just to then say nothing about it when questioned? Why say anything in the first place?
P. S. I know something you donāt know. Yeah what is it? Iām not telling youā¦Iām have gone from being interested to now actively not caring so itās all well and good.
Okay fine. Three things:
- They hide problems and when questioned their CEO has resorted to what I feel can only reasonably be described as bullying behaviour. Donāt take my view of it though, as itās only my perspective - go read the interaction yourself and see what it makes you feel.
- They donāt allow gender neutral titles or no title.
- Their terms and conditions ban anyone with US citizenship because they donāt want to meet reporting obligations (they have to send a list of these accounts to HMRC due to a ridiculous tax treaty the UK has with the US). They may be in the process of changing this, though.
It is changed as they have introduced special way to easy report to the US thingyā¦
