fun fact: it’s a year since Martin mentioned us
you need to start paying him a click fee, then he’ll be your best mate.
(below the belt?)
I would say it’s pretty accurate.
Because it costs the bank more if you make 30 withdrawals of £10 than 1 withdrawal of £300
No I meant how does it protect the customer? Starling say the limit is not a cost thing but a protection thing.
Either they genuinely have a good reason, or it seems a little disingenuous in my opinion.
It protects the bank not the customer IMHO
Starling are just trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes with the whole protection thing. The £300 limit is quite common across a lot of banks. To put a cap on the number of times you can use an ATM is just a plain and simple cost decision.
Like @anon44204028 said it costs the bank more with more withdrawals. They are blatantly just trying to discourage use of ATM’s in the UK which is kinda contradictory when they make a big fuss about not charging abroad!
Like I said earlier today, Starling are just a legacy bank in the making… It wouldn’t surprise me if this was all just an elaborate get rich quick scheme instigated by Boden & co… I can see one of the bigger banks targeting Starling for a takeover sometime soon…
I have no desire to bash Starling, truly, they are not really on my radar because I don’t like the feel of them … but they do feel a little “insincere” to my instincts, like said previously a legacy bank in te making.
Happy to be proven wrong as many people trust in them.
Does Starling have shareholders like Monzo do? Did they do a crowdfund raise? (Or other kind of raise?)
They do have shareholders (their primary investor is Herald McPike-Zima, from Quant Capital I believe), but they have never done a crowdfunding round.
So their community cannot benefit financially (there are benefits other than financial I admit, as most Monzo users will agree) as they grow?
Ok, fair enough.
Looks like Monzo is now helping fund Martin Lewis’ empire
It’s been like this for a long time, even when I signed up a year ago
Isn’t that the old prepaid link? No queue to skip now
