Maybe I’m too suspicious, but the way places like clearscore are trying to push me to link my bank accounts makes me think they benefit by getting all my data more than I would.
Nope That’s the raison d’être of apps like ClearScore and Credit Karma.
Indeed. As they say: If you’re not paying for a product, you are the product.
Any chance a mod can move the general Open Banking chat, not related specifically to Starling and Anne’s remarks, to the other thread please?
That’s one for @AlanDoe I’m afraid.
(The Coral Crew is just a legacy honorific now, I think. We have been asked not to move posts, close topics etc).
There is the very slightest leeway for the most extreme cases, but it would have to be something very very bad and only while we can contact Alan
Otherwise, yes, we are totally sworn off acting
What’s… like what do you get to do then?
Ponder about the times they could press a button to shut up the people they didn’t like I’m jesting, honest
I fear this is a second conversation that we need to move elsewhere!
But no special powers. (Technically we still have then but are asked not to use them, so we’re just forum members like everyone else).
I never found that button. /goes to look for it
Should be milk & more
Just moving some stuff along to the Open Banking Topic as suggested as a Hogmanay treat.
On Annual Leave hence the lack of posts but will be back on the clock soon
I’ve connected support who says they have passed it onto the merchant team but nothing seams to be sorted
Starling have released a few more of their ‘Feel Free’ ads - focusing on Business Banking this time. Not really sure if this is going to be a campaign that they can keep this concept up much longer though (why would the dog groomer want to be grooming a dog in the air? although the painter being able to paint the ceiling is useful). The two ads do reference different features of their accounts though.
Dog Groomer - references the Marketplace apps, Xero integration etc.
Painter - references instant payment alerts, Spaces (for setting aside Tax money), capturing receipts.
I still find this type of advert a bit boring. I’ve seen the one where they are queuing in the bank a few times now and it doesn’t grab my attention at all. I assume these ads are just to get their brand out their more, which might still work no matter how interesting the ad is.
They may not be award winning but I applaud them for bringing out an advertising campaign that has some quality to it and a running theme.
To me this feels more professional and what a bank should be doing. I probably can’t fully explain why it makes me think this though (and I’m not a Starling customer).
Despite my previous thoughts, I would agree that they look professional, which will likely help their image a bit.
Surely better than a Black horse belting it past you whilst you’re running in the woods or on a beach
I’d my pants
There a high street bank with a nicer app, I think reliable and boring they would see as part of the appeal
