I’m currently on holiday in Mauritius and ran into this exact problem, but overall it’s not a huge issue, just something to be mindful of.

Ok, it is for me. I am not a big fan of the Zopa app. It’s better since the update but lacks information that starling and other banks provide.
For example, payments to you, starling provide the source sort and account code.
They also allow you to add a category, notes and receipts. Zopa don’t do that currently.

I think the laughing was more at the mistake in your post, you said Starling instead of iOS

Only if the payment comes from one of your saved payees.
I switched out of Starling in 2024. I dug out my old Pixel 3 (currently on IOS) and logged in a few days ago. Didn’t get the option to apply for a personal account. Sad times. 
Uninstalled the app yesterday, reinstalled and logged in again today, and the option to apply was there! Happy days. 
Fingers and toes crossed they accept me back. I switched out to get a switching bonus and was quite bored of Starling at the time. Currently personal and joint is with Monzo but like others, I’m so sick of getting upselling shoved in my face on a daily basis. None of the paid tiers appeal to me as most of the perks I wouldn’t use.
Hoping to switch everything out to Starling if they’ll have me…

Seeing a lot of Starling and Monzo advertising recently. Noticed this billboard for Starling and some very bright Monzo branded taxis. Seems like both banks are on fairly strong drives at the minute to get new customers. Not sure the Starling advert is very memorable and gets across any USP.

Starling is annoying now with this whole spending/saving account/spaces premise where they don’t count spending spaces as accounts for open banking purposes.
Result is that all of my YNAB data imports into the main one and I have to manually do everything

I think it just makes them a savings account in YNAB?
It was easier than what I found with Monzo, with transfers from pots for direct debits/standing orders
Nope, you can only share the easy saver and personal account directly.
Not the spaces within them.
It treats them as one area, instead of individual spaces, which I found easier to manage personally than having to list all of them individually like I have to do with Monzo.

For my job, starling statements are a breeze.
Monzo are the worst, next to Coop only doing 25 transactions a statement and then TSB sometimes does weird dates opposed to monthly too which I’ve never understood.

I’ve tried a few of the budgeting apps and not many of them seem to like pots/spaces from any accounts.
Starling statements are very good. Probably among the better ones. I agree Monzo statements are difficult to read, driven by the complexity of the way pots and the movement of money between them and the main account is executed.
As Monzo can compress out the transfers for the activity feed, why not allow an option to do so on the statements.
I guess with most banks now letting you see all the transactions for up-to a year or more, most people don’t need to generate statements a lot of the time.

Starling seem to have restricted statement generation to a full month. Can’t access one for Aug or September- very recent change. Also they only generate the certified ones now

I always thought it was a bit pointless having both certified and non-certified options available.

True, just not sure why they have made it harder to generate a statement if you need one.
Also I think taking away an existing feature is a bad look
I can still see partial statements. Just go into 2026 and the September shows as an option but says partial statement.
You can also still choose between certified and standard. This was done because some companies used to not accept standard PDF statements from starling and other banks.
Can’t get this on mine, maybe they’re testing the new version on mine (A/B testing)
I’ve checked it on both iOS and Android, both show the same in statement history.
I go into statements, statement history, 2026 and then I can see September and it shows partial
