You open a joint account and you both get a card each with your own card details, but spend from the same account.
Monzo is a full UK bank account, not a card.

And just to add… You should only commit to opening a joint account with someone like your partner, for example, who you fully trust and see spending the rest of your life with.
Don’t open a joint account if you want to share expenses with a room mate for example. You will be financially tied to this person for many years, and if things go wrong, it can result in some bad financial consequences for both parties.
