Santander Chat ♨️

I’d get it if the cashback was on supermarket shopping rather than eating out!

I got it, but am still waiting for the physical card. You can add it to  Pay though so I’ve started using mine.

Very annoying that I have to call them to order an additional card for the Mrs.

I buy Tesco vouchers through work benefits at a 4% discount so don’t need supermarket cash back.

It’s replaced a NatWest Reward Credit Card and Halifax Clairty Credit Card for me.

Seems such an unusual exclusion.

I thought the Zero card didn’t have cashback?

It didn’t from what I remember, but it did have zero fx fees worldwide.

Is it the usual black credit card design in Apple Pay?

The ‘world’ just seems so randomly plonked on that card.

My postie is taking his sweet time bringing mine. I do find that frustrating about Santander that you have to wait till the physical card arrives to actually get spending. Would much rather use Google pay straight away! Ah well, a good practice in patience.

That’s odd, they’ve just added a button to the iOS app to allow you to add to Apple Pay without having the actual card.

Oh, you’re right! I thought the card had to be activated first, but it’s just let me do that on android. Thanks for the heads up.

I think it’s only a feature that’s become available this week!

Now add notifications and it’ll be my favourite banking app.

For me, the biggest thing missing is dark mode!

I mean they could’ve done something a bit more creative with it :joy:

Anyone having issues with the app not showing recent transactions today?

No, I haven’t made any transactions since Saturday though. The ones I made on Saturday are there.

Santander have just launched a very attractive Regular Saver for anyone interested:

Santander Regular Saver 8% (incl bonus 5% variable)

£200/month

Withdrawals allowed

Any current account holders

The product is available in-app.

If you already have their current RS, you need to empty and then close through the chatbot to be able to upgrade. Once notification of closure is received, you can open the new one.

New customers can access the RS immediately.

The rate dropping to 3% thereafter is a bit naff, and, it being capped at £200 per month limits interest. But, that said it’s a great way to get into saving!

I don’t have a Santander current account, only an old (instant access) savings account (with 0 balance but still alive). Santander still lets me open the RS online. I guess I can top up the RS, and withdraw from the RS, via the savings account, basically using the savings account (which has its own sort code+acct no) as an ersatz current account.

Which is exactly how I have used my RS, which I have just closed to take up the new offer.

Given Santander’s track record with Regular Savers, it’s highly likely that in 12 months time a ‘new’ issue will replace this offer and you will be able to upgrade, pretty much like what is happening now.
