And probably wouldn’t work with a fancy sort code account :joy:

Were they reopened or just new accounts opened again?

When I banked with FD and had their CC it was always the same that it took a few days to catch up. At least with both of my RBS CC’s they are very quick at updating the balance after spending or making a payment

Doesn’t HSBC only do it over night or something for credit cards?

@JIMMWX

Maybe only shows when collected, not pending :flushed:

With both my FD and HSBC cards, the available balance will update near enough straight away, the displayed balance updates when the transactions clear which is usually the end of the next working day. The other week i made a transaction with the HSBC card that cleared the same day, I assume that was because it was earlier in the day. Otherwise that’s the experience I’ve always had with them.

Amazon might be different as they only charge when they dispatch and not sure if your order has, but the available balance should still have updated from experience.

Good thing about using Monzo’s connected account is they use the available balance on all cards so gets around that problem

With HSBC, there are three things to know with the CC.

  1. When you spend, you get a notification there and then
  2. The credit limit on the card updates
  3. The card will ‘disappear’ around 10pm each weeknight and re-appear shortly after with the transaction and amount owed. It’s not instant in that respect.

So for example, you buy something for £100, your credit limit will immediately reflect this but it’ll show as £0.00 until that night, but will re-appear with -£100 shortly after. Magic!

There is, click on the card, swipe down the transaction screen and look at your available credit, that’s the only way to know until it appears

I used my HSBC credit card on Tuesday. I can’t remember if I received a notification, but my credit limit hasn’t changed and the transaction is still not showing on my account two days later. It still shows my balance as £0.00.

Probs needs a good 7 days to work properly

Is your online banking the same?

Paging @AlanDoe to move these to the HSBC Chat

This is the same as in the app. In the App you need to go to the credit card, then swipe down the transactions list and you’ll see it’s there. The top of the screen only shows your credit limit, you need to swipe down and look at your available limit.

How does it look in RBS?

It isn’t there in my HSBC app. I’ve scrolled down the transactions and there’s no sign of any available amount.

Sorry I should’ve been more specific. Hide the transaction list by ‘pulling down’ the section by the grey bar at the top.

The RBS implementation is much better

How’d you open another account if you can’t open that one? Was it a Child&Co?
