Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Chat

@Se1lad Did NatWest not mind that your salary didn’t actually go into their account and into RBS instead? Suppose this was the kind of thing I was wondering - whether they take a wholistic view of your accounts with the group, or of individual arms only. Similarly, did Ulster refuse to upgrade you even though you held 100k in savings elsewhere? And then upgraded when it moved to them only? Just trying to get my head around how this all works, as no chance I would qualify for them all individually. Thank you

See the chat in NatWest thread on this.

I’ve seen it, thanks for your comments on there. Just wondering if @Se1lad as someone who holds the accounts could share their experience re the Qs I asked in here, particularly re the Ulster one please. Not planning on moving my savings there, so wouldn’t want to do a pointless application if they don’t actually just base it on total savings (which is what their site said).

This bad boy arrived while I was away on holidays:

Note: No, I don’t have any premium account. Just a standard select account.

Its been 4 weeks and still waiting for mine. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Did you order one?

Oh they’ve changed the design from the old cheque book. It used to be white with a yellow/gold background.

The new design is very in keeping with the Drummonds cheque book. Which also features a blue background.

I prefer the newer design. Just wish the Drummonds card would be updated to a gold or black colour.

It looks to me like it’s a generic RBS template that can be overprinted with any of their logos. Shame but I suppose inevitable.

We are generally spoilt with the monzo/starling as debits usually come out shortly after midnight.

Same for payments inbound.

Revolut usually happens around 11am for debits, Chase also had a weird timing for them.

Could just be as it’s the first payment and next month it’ll go much earlier.

If it’s not gone by 4pm I’d be concerned, as I think that’s general cut off.

It made me chuckle - and yes, I’ve earned that badge myself in the past

My DDs from Chase come out at all kinds of times, though usually before 9am.

Sometimes direct debits leave a day or two later than planned, I wouldn’t worry about it. You can always call the company and explain!

Panic at 4pm if it’s not gone lol

But yeah there’s some work to be done on debits.

I’m sure a I recall reading many, many moons ago that the first DD to a merchant was sometimes delayed (as in late, but on the correct day) for some reason. This may have been bank specific, though

Also, you can avail yourself of the DD Guarantee Scheme if necessary.

I think we’re all on tenterhooks now waiting for this DD to be collected.

What’ll come first, direct debit or cheque book?
