Lloyds does that it’s annoying and ruins the app.
Quite sure - never had a BoS account. I did have Lloyds and they were pretty bad, too.
Where do you find these adverts trying to persuade you to save/invest/etc? Do they pop up or just on the home screen somewhere?
In the bottom half of the main screen below the account list. I’ll take a screenshot next time one appears.
Like this? It really doesn’t bother me in th slightest, maybe because I’ve linked many of my other accounts so have to scroll a bit to see it. Plus, telling me about savings goals is hardly a terrible thing imo.
This is my view too, and even if they appear they’re too far down to see at first glance.
It doesn’t bother me, either. I was just commenting on @ndrw saying that he’d never had advertising or upselling in his RBS app.
I admit that it’s not quite that bad In fact, it’s not even as “in your face” as HSBC are now with their in-app advertising.
I don’t think that it’s an issue as much as a choice. HSBC do proper notifications with sound, loads of other apps can do it, it’s just most traditional banks that don’t (on iOS).
I’d be happy to give RBS a go as my main account if the notifications had sound, there were more of them (e.g. a direct debit has been set up or there’s been an active card check) and things just felt more “instant”, like with Monzo/Starling.
Notifications are fairly instant for me so far.
One thing I wish the app did is if it’s open, and you send money to it, the app could update automatically with balance and transactions opposed to force closing and then opening again.
It’s worse than how Chase do it which people often complain about, as it doesn’t even have pull down to refresh.
Sorry yes was ambiguously worded, by “it” I meant the RBS app. The Chase app refreshes balances with a slight delay but you can pull down to refresh to reload them, the RBS app has no pull down to refresh so I’ve always had to force restart the app to get it to do an immediate refresh.
Ohhh I read “it” to be Chase.
My debit card has arrived!
I actually really like the design. The purple looks really nice and the stripes just seem less childish compared with the Natwest version. Also, the Visa logo being too close to one of the stripes is barely notable on the physical version which is good for me.
Only issue is that it’s only valid for 2 years! Who knows if they’ll still give Visa cards out by then! Would rather keep this Visa card for much longer than be switched over to Mastercard.
I also got Visa and agree, it’s one of my current favourites.
Now just waiting with fingers crossed for my bonus to be paid (switch completed on Friday, money went in on Thursday so should hopefully be imminent).
That’s what I’ve always thought, for it to have existed for so long and then seemingly arbitrarily get quietly killed off seemed like a shame. I would have thought the NWG is big enough to be able to find some way to have kept it alive for history’s sake.
Feels like cutting a really old tree down, one that’s been there for centuries and then on some random Tuesday it’s gone.
Just got my switching bonus paid
Not sure if I asked this other day, or was meant to, but had anyone switched in and not transferred the funds but still got the payout?
Just made the mistake of logging into online banking on a computer… now I have another card reader coming my way!
(I’m limited to transferring £750 per day using the app as it won’t let me use biometrics yet)
