Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Chat

You can try it out by opening a savings account and checking the sort code that they give you.

Such a simple and effective idea, looks like it’s bye-bye 15-80-00. Here’s the result:

Closest branch to the English border?

They still have one branch in England.

Fun fact… it’s 56 miles from Berwick upon Tweed to Edinburgh…. but 96 from Castle Douglas. Not sure why that is so interesting to me.

Oh and RBS let me back in today after I appealed their rejection of my application for a Premier Reward, I got 83-17-05 but pretty sure I had this before

Super happy to be back with RBS. They opened my account yesterday it appeared today, I was able to add my debit card to Google Pay, open a regular saver and cash isa in under 5 minutes.

Once my Barclays → Santander CASS finishes, it’s Santander → RBS for me

I did the same with NatWest earlier, everything is moved over and I’ve online banking with the card reader.

Seems to just work and I’m happy it’s a regional sortcode with a branch closeby

I have created a Virtual card and it became available immediately, also added it to Apple wallet. Seems the wait is no longer there.

Same as Ulster

With RBS moving back to VISA for their debit cards, does anyone know if the Child & Co branding is maintained on new VISA cards?

We should find out fairly soon as the first of us that picked up C&C must be close to card renewal time. Mine’s up around the end of the year.

Are they? NatWest seem to offer both, is it not the same for RBS?

I may be wrong, but I’ve seen posts about RBS/NatWest sending out VISA debit cards rather than Mastercard so I assumed they were moving in that direction.

Nah, they seem to flit between the two and have done for a while. Similar to Revolut

So now I have Ulster Bank Premier. I got the uFirst Private Current Account.

Does anyone know if its possible to upgrade to Premier with the rest of the Natwest Group now I am approved with one?

It isn’t, unless you meet their criteria.

Worth a try. I got Ulster Private Account as they allow you to get the account but hold the requirements somewhere else. So I used my Investment Account.

Do you have to be interviewed to open it or is it all online?

I had a call from Ulster Bank Banking Manager and they asked me about myself, my job, my investments and how I would like to use Ulster Bank and how they can help.

It was a really nice call. Took me a minute to get the Irish Accent into my head

After that they sent me a email just asking for a Full Statement from my Investment Account to confirm I had the needed funds.

After that I got a email saying thanks and you have been onboarded into Ulster Private and that they are now my permanent Private Account Manager.

Been a really nice experience with Ulster so far. No complaints at all.

Trying to work out why they say salary has to be paid in, but savings can be with someone else. I would have thrown they would have been more keen to get their hands on the savings!
