Metal cards tho
How come?
Working for Barclays historically, theyâd freeze millions for a ÂŁ3 scam claim so Iâd probably trust them less than Revolut
Why not?
I appreciate the 85k protection but there is the hint of a suggestion here that Revolut is gonna take their money down the pub or gamble it away at the bookies. Realistically, and I know banks can collapse, your money is fine. Banks donât tend to steal money.
(Disclaimer: Revolut is not currently a bank. It looks like a bank, acts like a bank and you can do banking).
Itâs licence has been authorised (July 2024)
Mobilisation is taking a while. No clue what that ultimately entails.
Just need them to start reporting to agencies
It was authorised; and is going through the mobilisation stage as per last years announcement.
Edited my post as it sounded like theyâd completed all steps.
Does anyone use Revolut as their main bank? Do you have savings or large amount of money with them? Just set up an account, looks pretty impressive. I know they donât have a banking license âyetâ
Over the years Iâve used it for everything (salary, direct debits, spending). Only the last year maybe Iâve been moving around the other banks, currently HSBC.
Either coincidence or just fortunate, but having my salary paid into a bank instead of Revolut has given me access to far better credit cards - likely because they see my turnover on the credit reports.
Revolut doesnât report yet so lenders canât see the data.
Once they do start reporting I will most probably move everything back as I never had a problem with Revolut.
Thanks @carlo1460 . I might send some money over to test it. Iâm tempted to buy the card at ÂŁ79.99 to see what itâs like
Does this even show on your credit report? I didnât think your balance was included?
We donât as a consumer, lenders do see turnover.
- Current Account Information â only credit aspects of your current account will be shown on a credit report such as the overdraft limit and balance as well as the manner in which this is maintained. A positive balance will not be displayed for these accounts.
Maybe I wonât after seeing this
Probably more than meets the eye to this
Had mine since November 2021 and not a mark:
Because itâs The Internet, and bits of stories get left out (namely the cause), I predict that the card has also been used as a makeshift flat blade screwdriver, to scrape out the oven, bust open door locks and clear ice from car windscreens
On another note, was on an Aer Lingus flight this weekend and the attendant announced they donât accept Maestro or Revolut cards.
Not sure where that came from, flown with Aer Lingus many, many times and not had a problem ever using a Revolut card on board, and theyâve never announced otherwise until now.
I sometimes wonder whether the crew use a bit of creative license during their announcements
EDIT: Actually, thinking about it, the flight was coming back from Netherlands and Revolut issue Maestro cards there. Maybe thatâs what she meant
Odd given they have Revolut Pay as a check out option when you book a flight!
I have had a salary with two previous employers paid in. My current salary has just been moved over as I fancied coming back. It is one of the more seamless experiences available.
Definitely going to give a try. Have you had any issues using your card anywhere?
Tui flights youâll get barriers, some allow some donât, the cards do work on the machines itâs just their training says no revolut. Itâs daft.
Revolut cards arenât part of the LINK network so taking cash out at a Coop cashpoint for example may incur a fee, but using at main bank machines wonât incur a fee.
I also turn off location based security, having used contactless on a train, it declined as the card terminal likely registers to an address miles away. And then again at a bingo hall. I think Apple Pay mitigates this but itâs kinda annoying, but also only ever happened twice in 4.5 years.
I moaned and got revolut to refund this charge for me once
