✅ Push notification when pay-at-pump pre-auth amount changes

Any idea how taking £1 from my account assures there is £50? I don’t get this authorisation charge thing at all lol :slightly_frowning_face:

Isn’t the authorisation charge just checking you have a valid card?

I think at the moment yes the £1 is for a valid card, but the changes going forward are to check the amount of your balance at the time of getting fuel.

How do you vote?

This feature has been implemented, so no need to vote for it anymore.

i really hope you do roll this out for all transactions. main ones i can think of are bus charges 10p then updates (without notification). and more impact but less frequency for me - restaurants in the USA when i’m abroad. goes through at $X then updates a few days later at $Y without notification. and the amount can be $50+ different. usually due to tips/service charges but i believe they can technically add anything they like!

I try and avoid petrol stations that have the £99 pre auth due to it not being released for a few days sometimes. Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys all still do £1. (in my area)
Tesco which £99 pre auths I pay inside at.

Sounds strange I just dont like how big the pre auth is £49 would have been a better amount.
Will most likley give in when I cant by fuel at 3:30AM before work or I get sick of people that take ages in the shop.

With legacy banks (RBS for me) I could fill up on Friday with ony having £1 in the bank and not take the cash till the following Tuesday, with Monzo £1 now then next day remaining amount, until the £99 actual pre auth gets taken

Why has this only been implemented for pay at pump? Surely it would be good for all transactions. Notification for Auth. If the final amount stays the same then no more notifications.

If the final amount increases or decreases - another notification.

I can’t think why people wouldn’t want this for all transactions. Pay at pump isn’t special.

This happens a lot for things like bus fares. And when abroad in the USA for tipping. And quite often for authede transactions that are settled separately so briefly appear twice.
