Progress update: Core App

As someone who has recently used both the iOS app and the Android app, I think the delay to bringing pot sorting and hiding to iOS might have been due to a great amount of work required to speed up the iOS app.

The iOS app was much, much slower than the Android app in my experience.

I think I read somewhere that they have 2 android developers for ever 1 iOS.

Not sure if it’s true but goes someway to explain the lack of parity especially when the two teams don’t coordinate and follow their own agendas

Excellent news - the hidden pots is fantastic. When the “Lock Pot” function became extremely easy to “unlock”, I have been missing a way to stop me from spending when trying to save.

It’d be even better if hidden pots were further hidden from the Edit pots menu - being made to select a “Show Hidden Pots” option. From my day to day usage of Monzo, I can imagine me re-ordering pots regularly as my needs change, but always being reminded that I have hidden pots with money in them every time I re-order my pots would entice me to Unhide --> Withdraw --> Bingo! :moneybag::money_with_wings::money_mouth_face:

What do you think?

I think it would be fab idea that if you’ve got a goal amount set on a hidden pot that it auto unhides once you hit the target. :dart:. :hugs:

I think they should be hidden but not too hard to find when you need them as well

Couldn’t agree with this more.

This is a fab idea too! Although I think it should unhide on hitting target AND/OR date as the options.

That way I get a surprise if I hit the target, or I get the pot in time for the event it’s meant for (holiday spending money for example).

Rushes to install

Okay, I’ve installed

@bruno, if you get the chance could you confirm if the sort/hide improvements will only take effect when 3.11.0 is rolled out en masse next week?

Sort/hide is not in the TestFlight version yet.

They said they don’t have an ETA for it on iOS yet.

Boom - sort pots is now in labs (Android) :tada:

EDIT; As is ‘Hide pots’ too :tada::tada:

Got that far, but no clue as to how to edit yet. Even notification in feed does not work when tapped yet

You have to enable “hide pots” as well for it to work

Options are working fine once enabled, but again had that past issue in the Monzo Labs where selecting a toggle does not actually switch it until reopening the page (i.e. still showed off, but had switched on)

Hide Pots did not have that issue, but Sort Pots did, if that helps

It seems you can’t sort your pots unless you also have ‘Hide pots’ selected which seems strange?

But with both ‘Hide’ and ‘Sort’ pots enabled, it looks like this;

EDIT: Upon further tinkering, you can hide pots if you have only ‘Hide pots’ enabled. But you cannot sort pots unless you have both ‘Sort’ and ‘Hide’ pots enabled. This seems like a UX bug - I wouldn’t expect to have to enable ‘Hide pots’ if I simply wanted the ability to sort them?

Other than that, the feature works really well. Easy to understand and access, and the order of the cards (or the ability to see or hide the cards) changes instantly in the Home screen to match what you’ve just done in the sort/hide pots edit display.

Well done @bruno and the :monzo: Core App team :clap::+1:
