Pots - Sort Order

Hi team, First of all, thanks for everything you’re doing with Monzo, it’s fantastic! I’d find it really useful if I could sort / drag Pots into a custom order in the Monzo app (iOS user). At the moment I don’t think that’s possible, right? I have 12 pots in my account at the moment - each one has a title of something like “Car Insurance 01/05/18”, “Holiday 24/08/18”, etc. I treat each pot like a sort of deadline for me to save money by if that makes sense? I’d love it if I could create …

The last update was a very rough around the edges version was being staff tested. No plans to bring it out so far I’m afraid.

Could we have a pot feature that allows you to “lock” for X amount of time? The fact that I know I can withdraw at any point means I end up spending my coin jar.

You already can lock your pot until a set date, if that’s what you’re referring to

First post for me so hopefully I have found the right place!

Scrolling down to see my pots on the accounts page is quite annoying! Anyone else find this a problem?

Would be much better to have a more condensed view here. I don’t really need to see a big picture of my Monzo card, I know what it looks like already! Also, the “Learn about overdrafts” section feels like it’s in the wrong place. Just gets in the way.

Hey Paul welcome!

I don’t mind scrolling down the list of pots, but a way to re-order them (which has been much discussed in the forum haha) would certainly be good!

I’d like to see the learn about overdrafts (or in my case, I have manage overdraft, and underneath that - learn about loans), within the “manage” section which has the button just under the card.

The whole top section could be reworked a bit so you could see a couple of pots before you start scrolling down I think.

Totally agree. I think this is really a historical accident - they used to have one card, then they had cards horizontally for accounts (even accounts that don’t have cards like pots), now they have a big card and some little pots below, but really all cards should have a similar status. Hopefully they’ll do another iteration on this soon.

The section should really be called ‘Accounts’ to my mind (if they want to actually have a marketplace with lots of accounts - just noticed yours is called Accounts - and mine is still called ‘Account’, weird), and the monzo card should be a little one with the controls (which are not often used) on the secondary screen when you tap. Ideally I’d like this to be something like:

ISA £1324 >

perhaps a bar to show balanced used on cc/growth for savings/whatever is appropriate in short form on each entry, then on a subsidiary screen after the arrow show all transactions for that account (a per account feed, as opposed to the global feed), and options like settings, freeze account, add/widthdraw etc.

Then you could see all your accounts/pots at a glance even when you have several of them.

Borrowing and Add Money should really be lower down or on a separate screen, these are not commonly used and this is a bank account not a topup card (in the case of Add Money).

Like most things with Monzo, the redesign only addresses half of the problem with the account page, and introduces others. The list of pots is better than swiping for days, but the giant debit card is unneccessary and takes up a lot of space still, as is the undismissable “Learn about loans” button (if you’re eligible).

Also mine says “Accounts” (plural) now, but I notice this happens after initial load when the app’s had a bit of a think about opening, as I can see it say “Account” (singular) briefly when the app opens.

Pots are great, but rules are very much needed - being able to link Direct debits, foreign payments or withdrawals to pots would be perfect. Until then, it feels like just moving cash from one pocket to another.

Yep when I load the app (iOS, Monzo 2.42.0), it says “account”, and then if I click on the account tab it changes to say “accounts”.

Very odd. They should just bite the bullet and rename Accounts.
