I’m in the process of moving my direct debits over to my Monzo current account. Transferring from Starling.
I’ve basically already switched apart from a few things…and my salary as my company don’t allow me to pay into it until they add Monzo to the list.
Don’t see any point hanging around, Monzo has the same protection as any other bank so I’m almost full hog into it
I have moved already. I haven’t closed my other account just yet but yes I pretty much now bank solely with Monzo.
I moved as soon as I had an account. Still have my legacy account for paying in cash and cheques, but the balance is zero with no DDs or SOs.
Well I get paid cash in hand so it would be impossible to switch! I’m Santander and i use both. All my DDs are from my Santander and monzo is for all the fun things.
HSBC - they’re 10 years behind the other legacy banks, so about 20 years behind Monzo. DD forms in snail mail to update credit card payment details etc.
I have been planning for 18 months to switch to Monzo and have moved a lot over to my new Monzo CA already. However, I’m concerned about the possibility of a 3% charge for foreign withdrawals. This doesn’t compete very well with competitors and is a sticking point for me (FWIW and I know that poll is long finished, 1-2% would be more competitive).
Barclays currently and even though I get £8 cashback a month i dont like Barclays technology or service.
My direct debits have already switched and my first salary payment goes in this month, hopefully a day early!
I currently bank with Barclay’s. I wasn’t going to get rid of them fully when the Monzo CA was up and running as I have phone insurance with them, but after getting my phone stolen, and realising that in order to claim, I had to print out the claim and send in the post (they only accepted postal claims). In this day and age I find this ridiculous and so archaic. So on the hunt for something more monzo and modern (anyone know any any phone insurers like this?). So when my phone insurance contract is up, and Monzo have the direct debit switch, then I will fully move over.
And more in line with costs to Monzo, hence the one I voted for
I have no reason to stay where I am so I need to see exactly what the Monzo product looks like. If you do not have cheques I will not be moving. If you do and they match the colour of the prepaid card, I will move in a heartbeat.
You want Hot Coral cheques?!!??
That would be cool, but I suspect unlikely
Last I heard they were talking about paying in cheques via the post office, or possibly allowing imaging when it becomes legal in the UK. Not heard of any plans to offer cheque books.
Discussed here: Will Monzo offer cheque books?
Why would anyone want a bank that is pioneering electronic payments via personalised web links, instantaneous transaction notifications and always-in-your-hand banking to produce a book of paper tokens you physically have to give to someone and which take six days to fully crawl their way through the banking system?
and maybe as well as their chequebooks they could have a handy £sd to £p convertor
If Monzo send out cheque books they need to send them out with these
I don’t mind cheques per se (or indeed any of the things I’m about to list) – I actually still use them. But I just don’t get everyone trying to shoehorn what they currently get from their legacy banking into Monzo. Cheques, and packaged accounts selling travel insurance, and internet banking.
If you want those things, keep your account at Lloyds or wherever, but please try to take on board that Monzo is going to be so different you can’t even envisage what it’s going to look like yet.
and an italic fountain pen and some blotting paper
Yes Hot coral cheques would suit me and match my personality: vibrant,
positive (and modest)

I dont need a £sd to £p converter as I can do this in my head/sleep. I was a cashier at a branch bank when the conversion happened on valentine’s day in 1971 and this is one of those things one never forgets. (Sorry, past my bedtime so its off in the slippers to the pipe and cocoa.)
I have already switched over closing my Halifax account soon.
