With the new terms coming 13/08/2025, Paypal credit customers will be able to get a physical card to use but have the option to decline having a physical card.
Have wanted this for a while, I think it already exists in the US. Hopefully āthird party digital walletā means Apple Pay.
I guess so, including Curve
Paypal are also now offering 3% cash back on one category you select this summer.
PayPal used to offer physical cards, called Access cards. Iām not sure they were credit cards, they allowed you to pay using your PayPal balance.
I still have it but itās probably long since expired.
They were debit cards. Havenāt been issued in the UK for maybe ten years or so.
As the only thing Iām using the Curve card for is to act as a credit card with my Paypal account, once this is launched (and if Paypal let me have one - it still looks like there will be an eligibility check for it) thatāll mean I can just forget about Curve.
So if you use the credit card you canāt choose instalments ![]()
You canāt have that option at store PoS machines, remember it has give you the information and you go into some kind of contract that you have to agree to first.
But I guess the ones of £100 and above will still have the automatic 4 months interest free.
Although Monzo have sorted that out with Flex.
Also, if Paypal could play nice with Apple, theyāve already got options within Apple Wallet when youāre buying something to select instalments.
But - itās not even launched yet, so maybe these are enhancements theyāll sort out later.
All I am interested in are the 4 months interest free offers on £100* spend.
I was rethinking about this and one thing I wonder though is, doesnāt Paypal hate paying charges to Visa or Mastercard and so does whatever it takes to reduce those?
So, will this ācredit cardā be restricted to only those shops that accept Paypal directly? Or have one of their own card readers (Zettle?) thatāll be able to accept them?
Iād be surprised, that would really limit how much use it is and people arenāt going to bother if itās only accepted in a few places
My Paypal credit contract still mentions Synchrony bank as the provider, though some sources say Newday is the provider in the UK.
So whatever the case, Paypal credit cards are highly likely to be on Mastercard or Visa network.
They will be used like any other credit card. Doesnāt matter where you shop. I suspect they are Mastercard.
They could have come to some sort of arrangement with the card network, I think thatās what happened when Amazon said they werenāt going to accept Visa to force their hand.
Itās going to be a Mastercard however I donāt see a reason why they would need some one else to provide the card considering itās their line of credit
My Paypal credit statements have always shown last 4 digits of the card anyway, same as purchases.
Someone is providing the card.
Even USA Paypal credit cards are MC from Synchrony bank
Just opened the PayPal app to find details of PayPal+ now launched - which includes PayPal Debit card.
The debit card is immediately available to set in the Apple Wallet with a physical one to be sent in the post.
Thereās points to be earned for spending on your PayPal account.
I donāt have this yet. I will get more points from Paypal credit as I use it a lot for their 4 months interest free period.
