Issue: declined payment removing card from pdq machine too early but money taken From account shop hasn’t got payment but it’s out my account and still at shop need money to go through or money back so I can pay again
It’s authorised the payment, so reduced your account balance but when the shop doesn’t submit the payment it will be returned.
It’s not a fault, it’s just handling a scenario where the card has been removed while the process is ongoing but hasn’t finished.
Unfortunately as the hold has been placed on the money, you’ll either have to wait or contact Monzo in app with the proof and ask if they can release the hold on the money.
Contact support with this picture they should be able to release the funds early as you have enough evidence the transaction was declined. They may mention the transaction could be later re-took again in an offline payment but it’s more so just a disclaimer on their part
Yeah, if you have proof it was cancelled or denied they can usually release it straight away. Why it’s always important to get proof like a receipt/proof of the transaction failing whether accepted, denied or canceled always ask for proof so you can show your bank later.
Usually when a transaction fails most machines will either automatically print out a receipt to show it failed or will prompt the business to be able to. A lot of businesses ether don’t print it and get you to retry or it prints and they usually quickly crumple it up and ask you to try agan without even offering it to you as evidence (they assume people obviously don’t need/want it)
Yes but in order for it to be released early (before the normal timeframe) you do need proof. If you don’t mind waiting the normal time frame then what you’ve said is correct
It ended up being returned 5 hours later. So chances are the merchants pdq company must have cancelled the transaction allowing payment to bounce back. I think I was very fortunate in this case. Instead of relying on MONZO stepping in
Yes this was what I’ve read everywhere. But in this instance though my payment was held for authorisation, it was reimbursed 5 hours later back into my account. So merchant must have cancelled it after to enable its quick return
