Paying in cash to Monzo account

NatWest rbs Ulster bank all same rbs group all closing branches along with Santander they are closing a whole bundle so that there’s no duplication in walking distance so. if you live in a town you either have one Santander or none and Edinburgh is becoming like that so even the city centre around princes street they closed two branches and then two more in subberbs of Edinburgh and when you look at rbs they are closing branches like no tomorrow. They now put mobile vehicles in places without branches but they are cutting back when mobile vehicles go to places like you have no options left. Though nationwide are opening new branches in some places whilst odd one has closed that’s cause there’s a good one near by that can cope they don’t just close as nationwide isn’t like a bank it’s members owned. take Clydesdale bank they closed down many branches now it seams they will rebrand virgin money. With that virgin are the only national bank to be expanding their high street location numbers through opening new branches or closing a branch and opening a lounge that has a branch inside it and the number of lounges are going up, but this will grow faster under Clydesdale bank ownership as they want everyone to have that different virgin money feeling. Would it be be a way to partner with a few so options are there to get the best options for cash deposits i would love to see something then we can cut out debit card top ups completely and the need to have a middle man as in cash deposits. why have two accounts when you can have one as your only using one account for everyday banking and the other for cash deposits it’s silly in a day you don’t need to own the mobile transmitters to use one for a mobile network that isn’t owned by the company who transmits the network coverage it’s strange we can make life simple but until it is obsticals need to be overcome and I’ve had so many issues I’m getting frustrated at the fact I can’t pay in cash to monzo but need something else first which is a pain

I’m not going to lie, I could only get half way through your post before I gave up mentally adding the punctuation and paragraphs

Traditional banks think the past isn’t the future and dropping branches is the norm whilst they line their own pockets at customers expense.

Steps in virgin money giving new experience when you go to the bank and why not you should not be treated with bad service but service with a smile.

The backbone of any bank is ability for customers to pay money in by any means they can and unfortunately cash is big thing in a lot of people’s lives you can’t just do bank transfer life ain’t just digital it’s old fashioned in someways some people like their fat wallet full of notes so they can give a tip etc.

Banks etc are leaving the high street you need to find a way that want penalise people like paying in cash at post office or somewhere that’s everywhere but not everywhere has paypoint so post office is good.

I think signing up a number of options to reach enough coverage that allows the bank to be able to say ditch your old bank completely and still pay cash in to your account without saying it’s not for you if you pay in cash only

I’m aware that you can deposit money into several Prepaid cards and eMoney accounts via PayPoint, but are there currently any fully licenced banks into which you can deposit money via PayPoint?

If not, I wonder if there is a regulatory obstacle to a relationship between banks and PayPoint (given that so many banks provide services through the Post Office and so are not fundamentally against providing paying in services via a 3rd party).

Doesn’t look it:

It will be interesting to see who Monzo pick for cash deposits. I for one would prefer paypoint over the post office only because it more widespread and often corner shops have longer opening hours.

No idea commercially if it’s a good deal for Monzo though.

I’ve seen corner shops go away from paypoint it as they don’t like paying fees per transaction

I do know Lothian buses in Edinburgh do use paypoint in their main travel shop for the local one ticket for the bus which is a paypoint bought product so technically you can pay bills and deposit money there too

Though the thought of post office and paypoint but will it pay monzo to do it but then can monzo afford not to do it as well cause I think I could just use monzo if I can pay my cash in but then I say I can’t if it’s not gonna be worth while

In an ideal world I should be able to use ATM‘s to deposit cash to any bank just as I can use them to withdraw money from any bank.

I have a Santander account for this purpose, because they have a deposit ATM around the corner from me but I can only deposit to a Santander account from it.

Maybe we should have a nationalised ATM network with expanded features so that branch closures aren’t such a big deal and the future of digital banking is easier
