Pay at pump in Asda petrol.

Monzo flex has charged me the full 100 pounds that is usually kept on temperary hold. Where as I only filled petrol for 23 pounds

This is because Asda haven’t fully processed the transaction yet, it can take some time to update

Thankyou for the reply Dan. Cheers :clinking_beer_mugs:

Is it all sorted now? :folded_hands:t2:

Ah-ha! I’ve finally managed to find a thread that relates!

Not sure if this is just Asda, as this has just happened to me. It takes the £100 holding from the balance. Still yet to be refunded.

With traditional banks, like Nationwide, this amount never appears to come out of a balance, nor even the available balance. This is at the same store.

What’s the nuance with Monzo here?

Yes Dan. Thanks very much. Appreciate checking back

Monzo shows all movements of your account, older banks systems aren’t so apparent.

The funds should revert minus the difference usually within the hour. It might not even notify you, and just correct the presentment.

Thanks. Hmm. It’s been a few hours now. Will monitor.

Has the amount not just updated to how much you actually spent on fuel in the app?

Certainly at Esso and Shell it refunds the difference as soon as you replace the nozzle in the holder.

No, and weirdly it doesn’t display like the above OP with the £100. It shows £25 taken for the petrol but the balance is £100 less. Doesn’t give any indication of that!

[EDIT - Clarity]. This is the debit card not Flex.

Google ai says it can take up to 24 hours. Also doesn’t matter if it’s debit or flex, presentments can happen on both.

It’s possible you won’t notice the change happen as it’s a hold reversal not a transaction.

At Go it’s next working day, so best not to use them on a Friday night. Definitely better to use a credit card for unmanned petrol stations.
