I shared a post a while back where someone managed to add an extra tenner into the 1p challenge…

Yes I saw that. Letting themselves going into overdraft and then catching up before the system could clock what they were doing… That is dedication.

I’d love it if you can add an option to do it monthly and we can add £55.69 a month. I get paid monthly and I like to have everything divided out into pots as soon as I get to paid to avoid spending it. Or even an option to reverse it so the £108 comes out in January and the lower amount comes out in December. Or even pay for the challenge from a pot?

All good options to make saving more accessible particularly for those of us with ADHD/Neurodivergence who struggle with saving and spending.

Please consider these options for next year if you continue to offer challenges.

Just missed the Feb draw since I just joined (1st February), but looking forward to join the March draw at the end of the month.

These are all great ideas but that’s just not the 1p challenge is it?

You are ineligible for any of the prize draws (including the monthly ones) if you started your challenge on or after 1 February 2025.

Imho Monzo have done a very poor job in communicating who’s eligible for prize draws and who does or does not get interest on their savings in this challenge. That and over complicated something should by its very purpose is supposed to be very simple…

Too bad @gt94sss2, it would have been great to be in the draw too.

It is because if you look the challenge up online it has variations where you put a monthly amount away or reverse it. There’s more than 1 way to skin a cat as they say and making saving accessible will encourage more people to do it.

You’re always welcome to save in whatever manner you prefer.

Yes and I am making suggestions to Monzo on how I think it could be improved. It’s up to THEM if they take it on board. Not sure what you’ve got to do with it.

This is a public forum… Anyone can chip in…Monzo doesn’t need to do anything. You’re welcome to save monthly or weekly or however much you like.

Tbf the in-app challenge is their campaign to encourage people to sign up for their packaged accounts rather than a public service for anyone’s Saving Challenge Wishlist. People who can think ahead and set aside money are not the targeted audience. That’s why they set up the 1p challenge how it originally is so you can only earn the lowest possible interest from the pot.

From a business point of view I don’t think they’d make any “improvements” to us users, apart from maybe letting us do the challenge in reverse next time due to popular demands.

Is the monthly prize draw going to be announced at midnight?

I believe the first one is at the end of February

Edit: My mistake, please ignore

No the first one is today actually. It says so if you tap on the £100 monthly prize square thingy in the challenge screen.

Just checked it hext draw is 3rd February for the £100 monthly draw.

Looks like they have drawn it. When I click on the prize draw box it tells me I “didn’t win this time”.

I’m not a winner this month either :joy:

I do wonder if you win a monthly £100 prize, do they take you out of the running for future prizes? (Imagine if the same person won two months in a row…) If so do you think anyone would take their names out of the running for the monthly prizes, in hopes to win the £10k at the end? (This would be silly as none of us here are likely to win anything, so reduce your already near-zero chances even further!)
