I’ve just noticed that from the 1st February the challenge will only be available to Extra. Perks, and Max subscribers
I’m not sure how I missed this!
Such a strange limitation to put in place.
I understand why they made that choice.
Introducing it to everyone allows them to experience its value, which can drive upgrades when it’s moved to the paid tiers. Additionally, as you mentioned, it adds more value to the paid tiers.
They also put that as a cut off date for anyone who’s thinking of cancelling/downgrading their subscriptions.
If you’re on Perks and want to downgrade to Extra, you’d need to cancel and subscribe before 1st Feb otherwise no interest will be applied to the challenge pot, although you may still be eligible for the monthly lucky draw. T&Cs also say they can disqualify people who paused the challenge regularly, or cancelled and resubscribed the plans many times.
I was tempted to downgrade to Extra after joining the Perks bandwagon as I don’t use any of the treats (apart from 1 Greggs hot chocolate so far). However, after considering the net loss for the monthly lucky draw, I’ll stay on Perks until the end of the challenge. Again, well played, Monzo. A bank doing a fun thing while trying to make a profit out of it so they can do more fun things. I’m happy to pay, although I can’t say it’s good value for the price.
Hope they’d give me a plushie (and a higher quality card) as I’ve been with Monzo since 2016.

Was there a glitch this morning?
I do a quick check-through of all my accounts every morning to ensure that everything is in order and - yes - for no reason other than seeing the falling coins I check on my challenge, which usually animates the instant I open it.
Today it didn’t and still didn’t at approx 9.00am and today’s contribution hadn’t been taken.
When I was able to check again about 9.40 everything was fine, today’s amount had been taken and the animation did what it does (and brought a smile)
Could it have been network lag not refreshing the data in your app?
If you have a paid account and use the Google Sheets export, maybe have a look there to see the time it actually happened? (4:10am for me today).
Might be network lag but I don’t ususally have that kind of issue.

I do the same as you each morning and saw it hadn’t been taken too. It let me do the catch up manually and looking at my google sheets it triggered a few seconds later so i’m now 15p ahead…

Got the “catch up to day 15” before my £0.15 was taken out, so I’m 15p over, too. I’ve also just turned on live Google Sheet recently. Mine was at 09:13 and 09:52.
Mine has been late the last two days, it was at 7:30 yesterday.
If there are 1m customers using it, it’s actually quite a load if processed in one go. So I expect what you’re seeing is the good folk at Monzo smoothing out the savings challenge transactions over a slightly longer period each day, so it doesn’t impact the rest of the bank(!)
has anyone who “accidentally” contributed twice had anything removed yet?
Is it possible to have more than one challenge pot?
It still took 16p for today instead of just catching up by 1p for me.
I am undecided on wether I love it or hate it but feel like either way I don’t want to sit through watching it again
