Our NEW 1p Saving Challenge - It's here - Join by 31 January 2025 šŸŖ™ šŸŖ™ šŸŖ™

I know they said they were polishing it off, but… hear me out…
What if it launched on the 1st (a bank holiday), and then there were issues or it caused a spike in users and then other services suffered?

I do think they should have allowed us to backdate to the 1st though. Even if restricting to those signing up in January, or even the first 1-2 weeks after launch.

It should have been live mid-December. Then all the promo, questions, teething issues are sorted out before the Christmas break and then it goes live and everyone started on the 1st.

I know things slip, I know projects take time etc etc. But as I said the the very first time, it’s sloppy.

Should have just delayed it until January 2026 as soon as they realised it wasn’t going to be ready for the 1st January this year :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

How do you know they didn’t launch on the exact date they decided to launch on? This 1st Jan date is just your opinion on when YOU think it should have launched.

In theory, the 1p challenge starts on the effective 1st day of the year, up to day 365.

Day 1 - 1st January

If you think this was their intended launch date then I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

… how much? :unamused:

doesn’t answer the question. How do you know they didn’t launch exactly when they intended to?

yes in theory.

Can I have second dibs on the bridge?

I have some troubled water I need to cross.

How do you know that?

Was it your fault it was delayed and you’re trying to deflect?

Traditionally, it starts on the first of January…there are no rules and no-one really cares but to suggest it’s meant to start on the seventh day of the year is just arguing for the sake of it.

For my New Year’s resolution this year I’m gonna go on a diet, but not until September.

Once you take in to account the extra I would have to pay to join a new plan (across the year) vs the interest on a pot that starts quite small I wonder if it’s a wash :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You may have since noticed this yourself, but in the prize T&Cs they’ve included a right to disqualify people from prize draw if they feel you’ve not engaged in the spirit of the challenge…

The 1p Saving Challenge is all about saving each day. If we believe you’ve not saved in this spirit, we may disqualify you from winning the Ā£10k Prize Draw and/or the Monthly Prize Draw. For example, if you’ve started the challenge, paused it shortly after, then added Ā£667.95 to your 1p Saving Challenge Pot on or close to the 365th day of your 1p Saving Challenge, we may disqualify you from winning the Ā£10k Prize Draw. Similarly, if you’ve constantly stopped and restarted your Extra, Perks or Max plan, we may disqualify you from winning the Monthly Prize Draw.

I have, yes.

Nice of Monzo to mask this as a great way to build a tiny bit of wealth, but ensure nobody that can afford/has need for a paid account actually makes any money on it.

Great feature Monzo, very slick

Apologies if already asked, for budgeting purposes, is there a chart with how much we’ll need to put aside in Jan, Feb and so on…?

How dare they give more to those who pay more. What business does that :upside_down_face:

I honestly don’t understand why anyone has an issue with this… Monzo is a business, they make business decisions to support the bottom line. That is how all businesses operate… If you want the extra interest and chance to win some money, then you need to support the company providing that…

I think it’s a reward for taking part and being eligible. I don’t think it’s an entitlement. Don’t like the rules - don’t play.
