Just seen you’ve covered this in a handy sheet! Should’ve known

Please can you add an option to do the challenge in reverse? Saving more in Jan is way more feasible for some people than saving a lot in December!

I’ve already joined the challenge but would love to switch to a ā€˜reverse’ version to save Ā£3.65 on the first day, etc

FYI - anyone doing the challenge with Extra/Perks/Max that might cancel their sub before the challenge finishes:

But if you cancel your Subs plan on or after 1 February 2025, then you’ll stop earning interest from the day your Subs plan ends, and you won’t be able to put any more money in your Challenge Pot.

If you upgrade to a Subs plan again before the end of the challenge, then you can restart the challenge, and add money to the Challenge Pot again.

Is there a way to take the 1p challenge out of my activity feed

Not sure if this has been posted before (a lot of posts to go through).

In trends left to spend you can see how much you still have to pay in your payment cycle. Very helpful!

Please can you do a reverse 1p challenge? Start at 365p and drop down to 1p at the end of the year?
Or even collect the amounts randomly?
December is usually an expensive month…

This!

Yes, plus the saving can earn a bit more interest throughout the year, too…

I’ve updated my Google sheet to show the Monzo forward 1p challenge dates/amounts alongside the IFTTT/Manual forward/reverse 1p challenge dates/amounts:

Agree with most here. Three simple points to suggest:

  1. Open up the savings challenge the aim is to instill disciplined savings above users

  2. Take out the 10k rewards components for children under 18yrs

  3. Lastly, and we notice this with our payment Ring. You really need to stop pushing the ā€œinterest rateā€. It’s poor compared to other products out there today. The rate is not a key point here. The key point is to promote a good savings habit among users.

This just is not true, even I’ve stated multiple times with my Plus, that offers more of what I want whereas perks offers less for more

It’s Monzo’s fault for creating a plan that costs more and wasn’t going to suit everybody already on the existing ones and create one that’s cheaper that takes away a few things… (P.S hope you’re feeling a bit better today!)

They will argue the case that IFTTT is still available for other users.

Yeah I think this is what I will do. I don’t need the extra stuff on the new plans so it’s not worth paying more for. I am paying for my old plan simply to keep virtual cards. If they desperately want to kill off the old plans I’ll forgo virtual cards entirely and move to a free tier.

Edit: It’s relevant to this topic because getting 0% on this challenge is a tiny bit annoying. But hey.

Ultimately it will be a toss up between going back to being a free member or downgrading to extras and moving money into different, better serving accounts - either of which, isn’t great for Monzo.

Other banks now offer these for free too… here’s us paying for them

I have legacy plus because it wasn’t worthwhile for me to pay Ā£2 more a month for a railcard that I’ll never use and for sausage rolls. Plus I’d earn less interest.

… So, you’re suggesting I downgrade to something that offers me less to get my feedback across, rather than using this Discourse to voice it? May as well close down the Discourse then.

I prefer the term ā€œfeedbackā€ rather than ā€œcomplainingā€ btw - I still pay them, because Plus currently still offers the best things for me so why the hell would I cancel it lmfao…

Mines not a complaint, it’s feedback - it would be a complaint if they forced me off the plan though.

There is quite literally a category on here called ā€œFeedback and Ideasā€ where I have also voiced what I’ve said here before - not my fault if they let it get lost in the noise.

Literally makes zero sense to cancel when that product still exists for me - it would be different if they actually forced Plus and Premium to either up/downgrade to another plan or back to a free user - but I imagine they haven’t been able to do that (yet) because of some sort of legalities.

Anyway I digress, I don’t want to take it too far off topic and be hit by the phantom flagger

Is this challenge still rolling out? I’ve had no emails and no prompts in the app :grimacing:
So just patiently waiting for now…

Explore > Start Saving > 1p Saving Challenge

Alternatively, links here: 1p Saving Challenge | How to Save £667.95

Thanks - I didn’t have Explore in my app but found it under Extra > Benefits (listed as a benefit such as Virtual Cards, Connected Banks etc).

On the link it also just asks me to apply for Monzo, but that’s probably because I’m on my laptop.

In any case, I’m in no rush since I’ll probably start later in January to ease the pressure on November/December.
