I’m not sure if this has been suggested if it has I apologise in advance, I think a good idea would be for a section on the app to say what new things you can do instead of a sort of FAQ style section more a hot topic section so no one misses out on important updates / features / add ons especially if they don’t pro-actively use the community. 
Aside to what you’re suggesting, you can sign up for notifications here on the forum.
So when staff post a new topic in the Making Monzo section you can get an email or a notification

Yes, you could sign up to be “First to know” and allow that type of notification to ping up.
