Also I’ve not yet received the email - so I gather they are going out in batches - but I feel like tracked changes on a word document when you have a few dozen different browsers accessing it isn’t the best in end user accessibility.

That layout works to a degree, but I’m not too keen on it for a couple of reasons. One, it takes the statements out of context, which removes a degree of clarity. Two, the third column is broadly unnecessary - you should be able to see from the comparison what has changed and why, without it needing to be spelt out.

For the record, a number of the changes are the opposite of your second example - they’ve taken a simple statement and replaced it with more detail - several paragraphs, in one case - to add clarity over what kind of changes they may make in the future. (“We cane make changes for any reason.” becomes “We can make changes [to the following things] [for the following reasons]”

To be fair I don’t like attachments full stop. Put a link in the email to your website and I’ll download from the website if I want a copy.

Get this at work when we have a local server and things still get attached unnecessarily.

Most financial organisations show T&C changes the way @BritishLibrary has laid out and the third column is very important as the regulators expect financial institutions to make clear what the changes are and in plain English - not as tracked comments.

Where the text might be longer now than a previous version all an institution has to say is that ‘We have made clearer when x applies…’

Even financial institutions which circulate a full revised set off T&C generally include a summary of specific changes using the 3 column layout.

Most banks won’t even deliver a card to an address other than your registered address. If you lose your card whilst abroad with most banks it’s a case of waiting until you get home.

Proofreader should also check the links work correctly in the Word document:

Thanks, appreciate the clear explanation as to why that third column is necessary. I hadn’t considered that the regulators would expect things to be explicitly spelled out, but I can appreciate that may be the case.

I think the reason I didn’t consider that with the third column was perhaps because I was looking at the comparison in the way that one would compare a Wikipedia diff :sweat_smile:

I’m not sure what banks you are using but I have had cards shipped abroad with many banks

I thought interest rate changes have to be communicated in advance to allow people to withdraw their money if they want.

I have all three of these on my devices. They didn’t help in viewing the tracked changes in the attachment.

You do this professionally and send it via PDF.

You don’t. Windows comes with a browser and PDF reader.

I had a good giggle at the fact that monzo sent a word document of all things :joy: and they didn’t even sanitise it, that’s the worrying part.

Came here to have a moan about a bank sending me a docx file as an attachment. :roll_eyes: Nevermind the fact that I don’t have anything that can read it, isn’t that just spam filter bait?

Neither is fine. We’d all fail a simple phishing attempt. Worrying if you ask me.

So am I. Which is why I would like to know if Monzo consider the text I quoted in 5. of my OP complies with the spirit of the ‘Authorised Push Payment Scam Code’ which Monzo were in the process of joining a few months ago.

Agreed. The attachment made it look like a scam. Goes against all common sense on the internet and opening attachments that you are not expecting.

The Monzo terms on this are clear and presented without misinterpretation.

And in the app, you are presented with a warning when transferring money to ‘outside’ recipients; send money to someone at your own risk.
