New feature for virtual cards

Also 5 years for me

Sorry… I can’t count. 5 years. The underlying point is why can’t it be longer?
As it is virtual it would be good if you could refresh it to extend the expiry.
Although to be fair we are about 4 years from the first virtual cards from expiring so it could still happen/ isn’t yet a current problem!

But it’s already 2 years longer than it was a few years ago, isn’t it
I remember most debit cards were issued for 3 years, now we have 5

Well, my plastic Monzo blue has 3 years expiry. Not a problem as I don’t use it anyway :expressionless:

My new Lloyds debit card has 4 years :relaxed:

All current Revolut plastic/metal cards has 5 years expiry :relaxed:

My santander card has taken a strange one step forward two steps back mentality.

Only valid for 18 months but they are no longer automatically issued

This is good news… but my biggest gripe with virtual cards is they’re so hidden!

They’re midway down a list of features, annoys me every time I go to use one, should be easier to find in my opinion.

Would be good to have use virtual card as my main card toggle like the joint account first one that is in labs.

Out of interest are the new auto delete cards on the same bin as the others?
Its just after Rev had the feature netflix etc blocked their virtual card bin I think to prevent people spamming out trials repeatedly and if thats the case I wouldnt want non auto delete being blacklisted eventually.

The new one I created with an expiry and my old virtual card with no expiry have the same BIN. (That’s at the start isn’t it?)

It’s hit the app - in terms of announcing the new features - and I received the email from :monzo: about them too:

(now I’m off to find a dodgy shop :running_man:)

I’m sorry :disappointed: I’d expect merchants to be able to deal with you not having access to the original card. It could have been cancelled for fraud, for instance.

Gotta say, the new infographics for the most recent few feature updates have been super nice.

Yes, the BIN is the first part of the card number.

If so, that’s a bit of a missed opportunity but not something that Monzo couldn’t easily change later if they wanted to.

Ohhh editing card names is now a thing too!

No promises as always, but I’d like to do something like this… as you say, who knows what might happen by 2025 :stuck_out_tongue:

Currently all our virtual cards use the same BIN, yes. I believe you can edit the virtual card at any time to enable or disable auto-delete, or change the auto-deletion date.

It would help if it was possible to get rid of the “getting started” bit at the top

“We can only refund to your IBAN” has to be peak modern-day retailer speak for “We don’t actually want to refund you, so we’ve sent you a cheque”

That’s correct - scroll down to get the ‘Accounts Overview’ display and Virtual Cards have an entry.
Tap on it and it takes you straight to the Virtual Cards section.

I bought a domain from NameCheap (who I advise anyone to avoid) using a virtual card. They then suspended my account and demanded a photo of the front and rear of my physical card as proof of identity.

I told them that that was a) both something that s scammer would say so they shouldn’t ask for it, b) it was a virtual card anyway.

They didn’t have the courtesy to reply, refunded me and closed my account. Lost a few pence due to exchange rate fluctuations.

That slight indentation of the text for virtual cards still gives me the rage.

My inner (although incompetent) designer knows what it’s for but hates the execution.

(I am here for your judicious deployment of @anon91821566 though. And I love your Premium matching pot images - are they from the image generator?)

I know what you mean. The ‘Add another account’ entry at the bottom of the ‘Other Accounts’ section is pushed to the right too and so is also misaligned with the accounts text above it.

I can only guess that there needed to be visual differentiation between an actual account/pot and a link (to virtual cards) and between an actual account/pot and a process (to add an account)
