It appears the function to download statements isn’t there yet as I need to spend money (I just opened an account).
Will it be available to download statement even if I spend like £1?

I think statement availability is unrelated to amount spent but is being rolled out gradually so you might not see the option right away. You can however chat with support and get a proof of account ownership letter which should work just fine as a proof of address.
