Netflix increasing prices again

According to the article Netflix will only make the official announcement on Thursday, so we’ll probably have to wait until then , but I’d guess it would be straight away for new customers and next billing date for existing customers.

Any news on the mooted Netflix UK increase?

From Netflix UK, today

It’s very subjective, though. Content wise, I much prefer Netflix, or even All4 to Disney.

Disney is :poop:

I bought it on offer for a year when it 1st came out, I’ve watched what I wanted from it and that’s it done. No more content to watch as nothing else that has my interest. If I had to choose one service to subscribe to on a regular basis it would always be Netflix as the content is always renewed.

Edit as above everyone’s views are subjective as to what it is they like to watch

So has it gone up or not? Pretty sure I saw something about an upcoming increase at Disney as well.

Anyone any thoughts on Apple TV? I have a year’s free subscription, but haven’t watched anything yet.

I have Disney+ too

The prices on their FAQs are higher, so would suggest, yes.

However, my Standard HD pack renewed on the 8th at £8.99 :man_shrugging:

Me too my favourite trilogy from my teenage years. I re-read Foundation last year, and it was only when I got half way through that I realised that there were hardly any women in it. I expect the TV a show will rectify that.

We have Disney+ for the kids and while we definitely get our money’s worth I wouldn’t be renewing it for me and the Mrs.

IMHO it doesn’t hold a candle to Netflix. I guess it’s all subjective but along with all the crap I’d say there are loads of great shows worth watching.

I watch Netflix more than any other channel.

Always something new to watch.

Last night was The Prom and also Taylor Tomlinson : Quarter Life Crisis.

Made me smile

So I guess for starters Netflix is TV in our house. So the stuff from elsewhere is “new” to us. While much of the Classic Disney content is A+, we’ve seen it hundreds of times (and bought it!).

But if we’re just talking about Netflix Originals, off the top of my head.

Money Heist
Stranger Things
The Sinner
Ozark
Queens Gambit
The People vs OJ Simpson
Mindhuters
The Crown
Cobra Kai
Narcos
Russian Dolls
The Killing
You
Good Girls
The Last Dance
Better Call Saul
The Stranger
Dark
The Good Place
Unbelievable
When They See Us
Glow

They’re obviously not all outstanding but this is a fraction of what’s there and I’d be surprised if most people couldn’t find a decent amount to watch.

The great thing about Netflix is that it’s sheer popularity means that any great new shows usually get pretty strong media coverage.

Let me know if you enjoy any of it.

I’ve never found content discovery a problem to be fair, it would always suggest some good stuff based on my viewing habits and the charts of what’s popular was always decent to look through to see what others are watching.

I thought that was a YouTube show?

I can concur with quite a lot of those, but with things like ‘Money Heist’ you really have to play catch up in terms of previous series - must be 5 or more? There’s no way I’d watch ‘Game Of Thrones’ from scratch now. Same for ‘The Wire’ and ‘Breaking Bad’. It’s also a bit annoying when makers feel that the series has to end on a cliffhanger, to draw you in for the next one.

‘You’ has two previous series, and ‘The Sinner’ has two or three. They are fairly stand-alone, but still probably better if you have watched the previous, for back story. ‘Russian Doll’ is intriguing, and only one series to date.

Stuff based on books by Harlan Coben are usually decent.

I like to start something that’s got a few seasons behind it so when it’s good you can really get stuck in!

It was.

That’s my preferred viewing method. Watch it all straight through. You pick up way more when you don’t have to constantly remember what happened however many months ago.

Admittedly most series have diminishing returns with each additional season.
